You guys wanna get Rufus back, or what? NBC, which cancelled its Timeless TV show in the wake of an enormous season two finale cliffhanger, is bringing back the Lifeboat for one more trip through time. The Peacock Network announced today that it has ordered a two-part Timeless TV series finale, which is expected to air during the winter holidays. The #Clockblockers have prevailed against the malign forces of Rittenhouse, if in a smaller way than most had hoped.
An NBC action-adventure series, Timeless stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey, and Claudia Doumit. As the Time Team, their mission is to prevent the destruction of the world as we know it, by villains intent upon messing with the timeline. Susanna Thompson, Annie Wersching, and Michael Rady recur in season two as members of the nemesis organization, Rittenhouse. NBC officially cancelled Timeless last month. And that was the second cancellation. The time travel drama was also cancelled, then renewed following its first season on the network.
Cancelled TV Show Timeless Renewed for a Two-Part Series Finale
Fans, who style themselves “#Clockblockers,” have been rallying hard for a continuation of the Eric Kripke-Shawn Ryan drama, since prior to the season two finale. Recently, the Save Timeless team hired a helicopter (or ‘heliclockter’) to fly a banner over San Diego Comic-Con. (Footage is sideways.)

NBC RESHAPES HISTORY WITH TWO-PART ‘TIMELESS’ SERIES FINALE
The Time-Traveling Gang Get Back Together One Last Time for Holiday Television Event
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – July 31, 2018 – Hey Clockblockers, your mission is complete!
NBC and Sony Pictures Television are collaborating on a two-part “Timeless” finale to air during the holidays, giving closure to the globetrotting series that has generated incredible viewer passion.
According to executive producers Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke, audiences can expect the “Timeless” they know and love. A focus on the unsung and underrepresented people of history. And most importantly, one final emotional story for the Time Team.
“We’re excited to tell one final chapter to this incredible story,” said Lisa Katz, Co-President, Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “A huge thank you to all – our cast, crew, producers and partners at Sony – who have worked so very hard, and to the fans who kept us on our toes and made sure we did our very best week after week.”
“While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of ‘Timeless,’ this is the next best thing,” said Ryan and Kripke. “We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their passion, support and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”
The cast includes Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit.
Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke are the creators, writers and executive producers. Tom Smuts and Arika Lisanne Mittman are co-showrunners and executive producers. Don Kurt, Greg Beeman, John Davis, John Fox and Marney Hochman also executive produce.
“Timeless” is a production of Sony Pictures Television, Davis Entertainment, MiddKid Productions and Kripke Enterprises.
What do you think? Will you watch the Timeless TV series finale, this winter, on NBC? Will that be enough? Let us know, below.
This is a prime example of why so many shows are failing. Here they had a GREAT show, Timeless, and yet, it was canceled. And WHEN do they decide to wrap things up for us? Months and months later, you know, when we no longer care because we’ve moved on.
“Hey Clockblockers, your mission is complete!”
Not yet! Mission #SaveRufus is complete. Mission #SaveTimeless is still under way!
I am very grateful for a 2 hour movie to bring closure. It would be even more exciting to bring the series back for another season. It was truly the best show on TV and it will be missed by many. NBC please reconsider your cancellation of Timeless.
Good.
In fact every single season of any show should have built in final episode that can give closure in the case of cancellation.
This is excellent news!!! I take back all of the nasty things that I said about you NBC 🙂
Yes, please! We need Rufus back and in good shape! I am so stoked that we are being answered, even if it is in this small way. Thank you, thank you! #Clockblockers #BringRufusbacktous
I, totally, want to get Rufus back! What a great show! I loved it. It was so smart and funny. I enjoyed every episode! Thank you for wrap up. It ended on such an interesting cliffhanger.
I am glad to hear that the series will have closure and will definitely watch. But it is a shame that the series was not renewed especially when the rest of the TV programs are totally inferior. I am still hoping that somehow the series would be picked up at another network since it is one of the few outstanding series around with such loyal fans.
So thrilled we will be getting closure. There were so many dangling bits. Getting Rufus back, but most of all seeing the end of Rittenhouse, hopefully. I love the reminder of history, and actually prompted me to dig further, be it fact or some light fiction, Timeless engaged me fully for the hour. Often I was sad it wasn’t a 90 minute show. The dramatics, fabulous cast, history, fellowship gave me everything I needed in a program. More and more dramas are being lost and replaced with mindless comedies that aren’t funny. All three Major networks need to step up… Read more »
this better than nothing; not enough but hopefully Netflix will pick it up
I’m delighted they are going to finish this show right! I wish there’d do the same for Colony!
Colony will survive, Wait for news.
Problem with closure endings it’s likely fast and going to be terrible whereas if the series continued and build upon the storylines there could have been a completely different ending then what’s going to intended during this 2-part event.
Its great that we get to see a two part final, it would of been better if the show have made more episodes but at least we get to see a two part final and i hope rufus will be able to get saved and to bring him back home!
Thanks for letting fans get closure, but the series was soooo great and has so many fans it would be a Christmas miracle (since the two episode finale is supposed to air during the holiday season) to bring this series back. PERIOD!!!
Thank you. However, another season would be better!!!
Right you are. But I’d love to see amazon take it over. Or some channel that has great relationship with Sony. I bet Abigail Spencer’s being besties with princess Meghan and the attention she got at royal wedding didn’t hurt.
