You guys wanna get Rufus back, or what? NBC, which cancelled its Timeless TV show in the wake of an enormous season two finale cliffhanger, is bringing back the Lifeboat for one more trip through time. The Peacock Network announced today that it has ordered a two-part Timeless TV series finale, which is expected to air during the winter holidays. The #Clockblockers have prevailed against the malign forces of Rittenhouse, if in a smaller way than most had hoped.
An NBC action-adventure series, Timeless stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey, and Claudia Doumit. As the Time Team, their mission is to prevent the destruction of the world as we know it, by villains intent upon messing with the timeline. Susanna Thompson, Annie Wersching, and Michael Rady recur in season two as members of the nemesis organization, Rittenhouse. NBC officially cancelled Timeless last month. And that was the second cancellation. The time travel drama was also cancelled, then renewed following its first season on the network.
Cancelled TV Show Timeless Renewed for a Two-Part Series Finale
Fans, who style themselves “#Clockblockers,” have been rallying hard for a continuation of the Eric Kripke-Shawn Ryan drama, since prior to the season two finale. Recently, the Save Timeless team hired a helicopter (or ‘heliclockter’) to fly a banner over San Diego Comic-Con. (Footage is sideways.)

NBC RESHAPES HISTORY WITH TWO-PART ‘TIMELESS’ SERIES FINALE
The Time-Traveling Gang Get Back Together One Last Time for Holiday Television Event
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – July 31, 2018 – Hey Clockblockers, your mission is complete!
NBC and Sony Pictures Television are collaborating on a two-part “Timeless” finale to air during the holidays, giving closure to the globetrotting series that has generated incredible viewer passion.
According to executive producers Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke, audiences can expect the “Timeless” they know and love. A focus on the unsung and underrepresented people of history. And most importantly, one final emotional story for the Time Team.
“We’re excited to tell one final chapter to this incredible story,” said Lisa Katz, Co-President, Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “A huge thank you to all – our cast, crew, producers and partners at Sony – who have worked so very hard, and to the fans who kept us on our toes and made sure we did our very best week after week.”
“While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of ‘Timeless,’ this is the next best thing,” said Ryan and Kripke. “We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their passion, support and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”
The cast includes Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit.
Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke are the creators, writers and executive producers. Tom Smuts and Arika Lisanne Mittman are co-showrunners and executive producers. Don Kurt, Greg Beeman, John Davis, John Fox and Marney Hochman also executive produce.
“Timeless” is a production of Sony Pictures Television, Davis Entertainment, MiddKid Productions and Kripke Enterprises.
What do you think? Will you watch the Timeless TV series finale, this winter, on NBC? Will that be enough? Let us know, below.
With all the reality shows on TV, WHY cancel Timeless. It was different and enjoyable. Reminded me of Sliders and Fringe. Apparently all the major channels are going into people trying to survive on desert islands, ect. Some of us DO NOT want to watch that.
PLEASE reconsider renewing.
Timeless is a wonderful family show that is also a teaching tool for History. It’s like the Treehouse books came to life that my teen read a a little girl. We enjoyed watching this together and technology was put on hold. It’s sad the the executives don’t see the bigger picture in its value.
Absolutely positively will/must watch the Timeless Finale movie. Wish other canceled shows could have gone out this way. Visitors, Flash forward, The Rookie, and Warehouse 13 to name a few. Serenity the movie is still a major cult classic.
I love Timeless!! PLEASE bring it back for a 3rd season. NBC, you already took another show from me called Hero’s years ago. Now Timeless. Why do you all cancel the few good shows you have? I may not waste my time on the next good series you have coming out. It will just end after season 1. What a waste..
Outstanding!
I was one of the original computer nerds… graduated from Pitt in ’68 with a Minor in Computer Science (no Major yet offered; it was still part of the Math dept), I worked as a Program Advisor in Pitt’s Computer Center on Friday nights when the original Star Trek first aired (I watched the entire series many times in syndication). I had an incredible 33-year career as a computer professional (18 years were in the Silicon Valley when the Worldwide Web began (what www at the beginning of every URL stands for). On a scale from 1-10 I give Timeless… Read more »
One of my favorite shows. I am thankful that they will give it an ending at least. It was a wonderful way to peek interest in history for my son so now we will have to find another show that we enjoy together.
We are sad only 2 more shows to look forward to. This is my favorite Tv show. Please consider bringing this wonderful show back for a full season.
I hate to see this show off the list of returning shows for the 208-2019 season. It one of my favorite shows. I will definitely watch the finale this winter.
NBC is making a big mistake here. I really don’t understand why such quality programming that actually makes one think and educates at the same time would be axed. A real shame. I really think there were many more followers on alt-devices watching than the ratings showed. NBC should rethink and re-slot Timeless back on Sunday night after football season ends. The two hour holiday show should not be the end, but the kickoff for the post football 2019 season!
This is the same network that cancelled Star Trek in 1968 because it said the ratings were too low. Ge look … 50 years , 4 series and a dozen movies, plus 3 reboot movies later… it’s still around. Also Quantum Leap. They need to get rid of the slashers at NBC. Grow a brain and renew Timeless if for nothing else for it’s educational value!
This is a huge mistake, you should shop Timeless to Netflix. I had only forgiven NBC for the mistake of Quantum Leap, now your repeating that mistake. I will not be back this time.
How could they cancel Timeless? Are they nuts? Not everyone in the Nielsen ratings survey watch on a tube. They watch ONLINE and the surveys never got the full effect of the fan base… To pay to rent a helicopter to fly over Comic Con should make someone who wants to make money on this series to wake up! History teachers were assigning this show as well as English teachers to their students….How much more dedication of the fans and CLASS can a show create…..Come On Return Timeless

Thank goodness they going to do the right thing and tie up loose ends with timeless. I wished it could be renewed but at least we get see it come to a decent conclusion.
I am thankful to hear there will be a 2 hour movie to wrap up the story but very disapointed there won’t be more seasons. This was currently my favorite show.
I totally agree, I really love this show, but at least we will get some closure. Sure wish we could have it go for another couple of seasons though
