NBC has had mixed results with its freshman comedies during the 2016-17 television season. Although Powerless is struggling and may well be cancelled, The Good Place did well enough to be renewed for a second season. Will the Trial & Error TV show prove a success for The Peacock Network? Will it be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A scripted comedy series airing on NBC, the first season of Trial & Error stars Nicholas D’Agosto, John Lithgow, Krysta Rodriguez, Steven Boyer, Jayma Mays, and Sherri Shephed. The story centers on new lawyer Josh Segal (D’Agosto). To tackle his first case, this New Yorker sets out for the tiny Southern town of East Peck. There, he must defend an eccentric, “rollercizing” poetry professor, Larry Henderson (John Lithgow), who has been accused of murdering his wife. Rounding out the rest of the defense team are a group of quirky locals: Larry’s daughter Summer Henderson (Rodriguez), former cop and lead investigator Dwayne Reed (Boyer), along with Carol Anne Keane (Mays) and Anne Flatch (Shepherd).
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
4/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Trial & Error TV series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
5/21 update: Trial & Error is renewed for season two on NBC. Details here.
It should be renewed! Absolutely hysterical! It makes me excited for Tuesday nights.
Those ratings probably don’t show how many people watch a lot of shows. I usually have to watch this on demand. Funny as heck. This show had nothing to do with violence against women. I hope John Lithgow and the whole cast will be back!
Excellent show. Funny. Brilliantly acted. Please let there be another season. Pretty please!
Love this show! It’s brilliantly funny! Love the cast. So glad to see Nick D’Agosto again. It all works. We laugh out loud. Please keep this one on!
Love, love, Love Trial & Error!!! It has become one of my fave shows!! Please renew for season 2!!!!
May be a bit too silly. Good cast, story line weak although premise is interesting=improve the writing.
I couldn’t make it thru the first episode. So inappropriate. Are we really laughing about violence against women??
Stupid show!
The humor didn’t even make it past the first commercials. This show is not funny. I vote to cancel it!
I thought the first episode was awful. But it definitely grew on me, now one of my favorites. It is different, fun and quirky. I’d love to see it picked up for another go!
Loved it! Give us more!
Love Trial and Error! Quirky, well acted, written and directed. PLEASE GIVE US A SECOND SEASON!!
I do hope trial and error is renewed, it was funny and silly and very enjoyable.
Keep it on, Second Season Please
Fantastic show. Hoping for a second season
