Ugly Betty wrapped its run on ABC six years ago with Betty arriving in London to take on the next chapter in her life. The final moments of the series show Daniel arriving in London and searching Betty out.
For some fans, this ending meant that Betty and Daniel were on their way to happily ever after. However, America Ferrera and Silvio Horta, the showrunner of the series, spoke about the end of Ugly Betty at the ATX Television Festival over the weekend.
Ferrera said the following about the Betty and Daniel ending, according to The Hollywood Reporter:
“I do truly think that it was a special, new kind of central relationship on a show. It was about a different kid of love. If anything, betty showed him that he was good enough. … I always thought of that last scene as Daniel coming back to say thank you.”
Horta also spoke about the end of the series and how the series changed over its four season run. He said the following:
“The reality is: look beyond the title, the name. The word fades because it never really should have been there if we’re talking about who she is.”
Were you a fan of Ugly Betty? How did you interpret the ending of this series? Tell us what you think.
Ugly Betty changed so much over 4 years showing us so many different things that could happen in reality and the end was all good and nice but I’d of liked to see more of what it would of been like for Betty to live and work in London as well as the relationship between Betty and Daniel as it’s a different kind of love for both of them and don’t know what would happen to both of them like would they become really successful in their relationship or not and where would Betty go with her work and family
Can it be back? Please. I want to see them, if they can work, in a relationship (a romantic one). Please
If you dont do it, ill just make a movie about it myself
but please
I just watched 3 seasons of ugly Betty and love it! I wanted to find out how many more seasons were left so I could find them. What a shock to see that it was cancelled after year four!
I didn’t see any of it while on tv but really think it is such a well written and acted show. The filming style was very wonderful!! Losing ugly Betty was a mistake for tv . I don’t watch much tv and find most shows aren’t worth it, but ugly Betty is a wonderful exception.
