ABC is saying goodbye to Uncle Buck. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has cancelled the series after one season.
The comedy starred Mike Epps as Buck Russell, a freewheelin’ guy who becomes the nanny for his brother’s kids. The cast included James Lesure, Nia Long, Iman Benson, Sayeed Shahidi, and Aalyrah Caldwell.
Uncle Buck debuted in June, and its first season received decent ratings for a summer season sitcom, earning an average of 1.12 in the 18-49 demo and 3.878 million viewers.
Star James Lesure confirmed the cancellation on Twitter:

I heard about this show being the reason Mike Epps was leaving my show Survivors Remorse. I was appalled and angry that he would risk a top rated show for a remake of John Candy. At least try to work on both or take a leave or something,but dont give up your spot. ARE YOU SERIOUS? THIS IS WHY i never saw it nor do I care it was cancelled. I bet he wish he stayed with them…

OMG!!!! THIS WAS AN AMAZING SHOW!!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS SHOW GOT CANCELLED YET STUPID SHOWS LIKE THE KARDASHIANS, THE BACHELORS & BACHELORETTES, AND OTHER REALITY CRAP STAYS ON FOR YRS!!!!! NOOO! I’m so sad. We wanted another season. We were so disappointed that there were only 8 episodes. I keep watching them over and over again on hulu. Pleeeeasssee release more episodes.. at least on hulu! WE LOVED IT.
