A long time ago, we used to be friends. Rose McIver announces that Kristen Bell is coming to The CW‘s iZombie. The star of Rob Thomas’s iconic noir teen detective series, Veronica Mars, will reunite with its creator, during iZombie‘s second season. Watch the announcement, below.
Veronica Mars was cancelled after three seasons. The cast and crew reunited in 2014 for a famously fan-funded Veronica Mars feature film.
McIver usually narrates episodes of iZombie. Entertainment Weekly reports, though, that Bell will employ some trademark Veronica Mars voiceover magic, during her cameo.
As of its December 8, mid-season finale, iZombie‘s ratings were down. Will this new Thomas series end up cancelled after season two?
Season one of iZombie averaged a 0.65 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It drew an average an audience 1.755 million viewers. As of its December 8, mid-season finale, the second season of iZombie averaged a 0.56 rating in the demo and 1.382 million total viewers.
The picture is not all glum for iZombie fans. Those numbers still land iZombie in the top half of CW TV shows, this season. In October, The CW showed faith in iZombie, by ordering additional scripts, before the second season debuted.
In November, Deadline reported that The CW ordered six additional episodes, bumping up the season two order to a total of 19.
Watch McIver announce Bell’s iZombie cameo.
Will Bell’s guest turn bring Veronica Mars fans to the iZombie TV show audience? Do you think iZombie should be cancelled after the second season, or renewed for a third? If the Veronica Mars TV show was revived, would you tune in? Tell us.
