Get ready to learn more about fine wine with The Wine Show. Matthew Goode and Matthew Rhys will host this new series.
Ovation revealed more about this new series in a press release. Check that out below.
“Ovation, America’s only arts network, has acquired the first season of The Wine Show (13 x 60′) from Sky Vision. Starring Matthew Goode (The Crown, Downton Abbey) and his good friend Matthew Rhys (The Americans, Brothers and Sisters), The Wine Show take viewers on a fresh, accessible and thoroughly entertaining new journey into wine. The announcement was made by Sky Vision SVP, US Sales and Acquisitions Gillian Rose and Scott Woodward, EVP of Programming, Ovation.
“Winemaking and wine appreciation are popular artful pursuits that will really appeal to our upscale audience,” said Woodward. “Matthew Goode and Matthew Rhys have a wonderful, charming rapport, as well as extensive, loyal fanbases of their own so we are looking forward to tapping into that to introduce new fans to the network.”
Gillian Rose, Senior Vice President Sales and Acquisitions US, Sky Vision, said, “The combination of beautiful wine, breath-taking scenery and top-class Hollywood talent in Matthew Goode and Matthew Rhys is the perfect combination and we know viewers are going to love it.”
From a beautiful villa in the Italian countryside, the two Matthews set off on a new challenge in every episode, exploring different parts of Italy, uncovering some of the best wines the country has to offer and telling the stories that surround them. They will look behind the labels on all kinds of bottles, giving us new information about different wines, from those which we drink every day, to the really special, exclusive fine wines.
Passionate wine experts Joe Fattorini and Amelia Singer skillfully guide the Matthews along the way and also travel to 11 countries on five continents to bring back some exceptional bottles. Joe finds himself in a tight spot in the Loire when he discovers how one winemaker helped the French Resistance during WW2. Viewers also follow him to Chile’s Maule Valley to find out how the vineyards coped when they were at the epicenter of the devastating 2010 earthquake. Joe also heads to Shanghai for some very special research. Amelia meanwhile visits Australia to explore the Mornington Peninsula and discovers the German roots of the Barossa Valley. Delivered with warmth and humor, this new look at wine is paired with expert advice, fantastic food and tantalizing travelogue, making it an ideal show to enjoy with a glass or two of something special.
“The Wine Show, as well as other recent Sky Vision acquisitions – Masters of Photography and The Art Show – will be featured in Ovation’s new “Art Without Borders” slate launching in Q2 2018.”

Absolutely LOVE the WINE SHOW. Informative, fabulous lessons on different countries grapes, how altitude effects the grapes, how grape vines are cared for and harvested. Takes you on trips around the world, to places I could never go, to learn about different kinds of grapes, fermentation and customs of far away lands. All this and much, much more, presented with a sense of good ol’ British humor. Definitely a DO NOT MISS SHOW!
Thank you so much for picking this up, OVATION. THE WINE SHOW adds to your fabulously wonderful exciting look forward to presentations!
