ABC Family has had some nice success with sitcoms like Baby Daddy and Melissa & Joey but new series Mystery Girls has been a disappointment. How about Young & Hungry? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Young & Hungry revolves around a food blogger (Emily Osment) who goes to work for a wealthy tech entrepreneur (Jonathan Sadowski) as his personal chef. The rest of the cast includes Rex Lee, Aimee Carrero, Mallory Jansen, and Kym Whitley.
The show premiered to 1.09 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The second episode saw a dramatic decline but the third episode then saw the numbers rise. The ratings went up and down over the course of the season and the finale nearly matched the premiere’s numbers.
While Young & Hungry’s ratings haven’t been great, they have nearly matched those of the most recent seasons of Baby Daddy and Melissa & Joey. ABC Family could cancel the series but, as the other sitcoms get older, they need to find new sitcoms. For that reason, I suspect they will renew Young & Hungry for a second season.

young and hungry is one of the most amazing sitcoms ever! I love it and many f my friends do as well. It’s funny and the last episode, gosh it was amazing! You can’t finish the series like that, really not like that. RENEW!!! ABC Family has already canceled the majority of the shows that our family watches on this network, and we really appreciated the lighthearted, with a bit of spice flare of this show. It seems that the networks don’t want to allow any show to gain a following, but ABC Family should reignite an old trend, of actually keeping the shows worth keeping, without completely messing them up in the process. This is a good show. Cute, funny show that I feel had a good lead in would get higher ratings. I don’t think that Summer TV series always get a fair shake.
renew!!! I love it. I could swear I OnDemand their episodes every night before bed. I love Josh! He is so cute. I want to see the two of them “flirt” with each other, get jealous and eventually end up together.
