TV show description:
This police drama is based on the Rizzoli/Isles series of novels by Tess Gerritsen. The series revolves around a police detective and a medical examiner who, although they’re complete opposites, combine their talents to solve crimes in Boston.
Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has the mindset that the criminals she’s chasing are monsters. As a younger girl, with a housewife mom and plumber dad, she saw a police officer on career day at school and decided that was the job for her. She wanted the gun, the badge, and mostly the respect. She worked her way up from a beat patrolman to detective in vice and narcotics, then finally to the homicide unit. Her philosophy in tracking down the criminals is to make it personal — get angry and never give up.
By contrast, it wasn’t until her adult years that Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) figured out she wanted to become a forensic pathologist. She always knew she was different than the other kids and would hide in her room reading and dissecting dead mice. Aside from being a scholar, she was also an accomplished pianist and honor student. All of this led her to student medicine but, after medical school, she realized she wasn’t good at the emotions needed for treating living patients and switched to forensics.
Maura knows she doesn’t have much in common with the police she works with and knows that they call her “Queen of the Dead” behind her back. This includes Jane’s former and present partners. Jane’s former partner, Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), is very much her mentor. Korsak has always treated her like a daughter, and doesn’t get along well with her new partner, Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young). He’s great when it comes to anything that deals with technology, but gets sick at the sight of blood. Still, he’s just as loyal to Jane as Korsak.
Also very loyal is Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco), Jane’s mom. She’s the epitome of an Italian mother — somewhat overbearing and very protective of her cubs. She claims to have not slept since Jane became a cop and wishes she’d be a little more feminine. She’s not the only one in the family to feel this way about her, as her little brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) feels very protective of his big sis. He’s trying to make his way up the police force ladder so also feels like he’s a little in her shadow.

Best show on TV!!! Please DO not cancel this great show!!!
This is what drives me crazy that a show like this is cancelled yet the trash shows stay on. This show is my favorite! The characters, story lines are great! Please keep this show on the air!
Please don’t cancel this show. It is the best on tv
Great cast, fantastic chemistry between characters, excellent stories. What’s not to love about this show.
Don’t fix what is not broken!!!
I could watch this show for another 7years and still love it. Please keep it.
I love this show and do not want it cancelled. The acting is excellent and you actually care about the characters. There are so many dumb shows on yet you cancel the ones that have good acting, good stories, and people do watch because they care about the characters themselves.
PLEASE RECONSIDER. Cancelling this is foolish.
I love this show and do not want it cancelled. Please reconsider, it’s a great show with an even greater cast!
Love the show /series. I wait the week for another episode..love it!
Please don’t cancel it!
I love this show! I hope they find a way to keep it.
One of best shows on tv. Should not be cancelled.ke
I love this show and don’t want it to end. Seems several of the shows I’ve enjoyed were cancelled (Castle, Person of Interest are 2). Is it too late to un-cancel this show???
I can’t believe Rizzoli & Isles is being cancelled. It is one of few left on TV that I really enjoy. It definitely should continue!
Of course the show should continue! It is one of the absolute best programs and the cast is awesome… I liked Women’s Murder club too and they cut that one off before it even got totally started. I am tired of all the good shows being taken off and then garbage programs are kept…. and I also love that this shows strong women’s roles as well.
I FINALLY find a GREAT strong female cast of police & forensics and it only has 7 seasons! This is one of the best shows on tv I don’t understand why it’s not continuing! It’s better than Law & Order! So why do we have to do without? Can we get enough people to write in to bring it back??? This is just sad!
The show should continue.. Always has great drama.. Look forward to figuring out who committed murder
show should continue
