It turns out that Unforgettable didn’t live up to its name. CBS has cancelled the police drama after one season on the air.
The TV series revolves around Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery), a female police detective with an unusually detailed memory (hyperthymesia) that helps her solve crimes. The cast also includes Dylan Walsh, Michael Gaston, Kevin Rankin, and Daya Vaidya.
Unforgettable started out the season with a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 14.09 million total viewers. Over the course of the season, the drama’s ratings declined. At the end of the season, they fell as low as a 1.8 demo rating with 9.45 million viewers.
The season ended up averaging a 2.3 rating in the demo with 11.3 million viewers. While the total number of viewers is impressive, the demo number (and its decline) is not. CBS already has several other shows that deliver lots of viewers but the advertisers gravitate towards the younger demo.
On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative success of shows on the network, Unforgettable has a “C-” grade and is #15 on the list of CBS scripted shows.
If CBS wasn’t doing as well as they are, Unforgettable might have been renewed for a second season but, as it is, CBS cancelled the show instead.
What do you think? Are you going to miss Unforgettable? What made it unique? How does it compare to the other crime dramas on the network?

To ALL the decision makers, at CBS.
You started, so man up and solve this mess.
Not resolving the shows issues is now your crime
All it needed was better scheduling at the RIGHT TIME
Stories were good, an interesting thread
So how do I figure out why her sister is dead?
Do the honest thing and clean up the plots
A 2 hour special would do it, so let’s hear from the CBS hot shots!!!!!!!!
I’m guessing you missed it but they’re bringing the show back for a 13 episode season two this summer.
Hi, as stated I live in Scotland and have watched season 1 via BT Vision. There seems to be a lot of OUT OF DATE info on the Internet intimating that there was no season 2 planned. Hopefully CBS who we enjoy seeing some but not all productions took heed of the responses in favour of a 2nd season of this show. BTW thanks for the swift response and keep up the good work!! Regards John AKA the Kilted King
This show would have made it if it was aired on a weekday night….Sunday night is for football…
sorry to see it’s been cancelled. I really enjoyed the show. It made you think about the things that you see everyday but don’t really remember the details.
It’s disappointing when an actually original new show is not given adequate time, and the production tools to prove itself. The premise of this show “was ” original and there was lots of talent on hand, and likewise I too really looked forward to seeing this show each week. But some of the things PD mentioned have merit, but this show deserved more of an opportunity than it got. It really feels like the Suits won this round and we were the losers. I wish Mr Walsh and Ms Montgomery all the best…
