The executive producer of ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.
Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.
The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel’s biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the show’s ratings grew to 1.8 million viewers and 782,000 in the demo. Season one ended up averaging 1.3 million viewers.
To no surprise, ABC Family renewed the series for a second season of another 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, something happened between seasons one and two. When the 10 Things returned in late March, a lot of the show’s viewers didn’t. Thus far, it’s been averaging just 983,000 viewers. That’s enough for ABC Family to pull the plug, just 10 months after the show’s highly touted debut.
The show’s creator and executive producer, Carter Covington, announced the show’s fate on Twitter: “Sad news… ABCFamily canceled the show 🙁 Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans – U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!”
The remaining five episodes of 10 Things will continue to roll out until May 31st. Since the cancellation comes as a surprise, there’s no word if the series finale will include closure or if storylines will be left unresolved.

I just found this show last night, and I watched all of Season 1 and two episodes of Season 1.5/2/whatever they were calling it. I loved the show, and Lindsey Shaw is one of my favorite actress’s since seeing her in Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide. It’s a shame to see such an amazing and funny show get cancelled due to some stupid “low ratings.” Low ratings my butt… look at the people who posted here saying how much they loved the show.
I only have one more thing to say: BRING THE SHOW BACK!

10 Things was a great balance to the over glamed, over sexed, upper east siders, and the cheesy reality shows. CAT had a mind, and her sister had a heart. This show showed family values, self discovery, and deep voiced heart throbs in a funny way. I love this show, they should bring it back, maybe in July!
This show was a great show. The chaarcters were funny, and complex. The story lines were well constructed, and you looked forward to each episode because it left you wanting more. Bring it back ABC Family! Do your self a favor.
ABC Family, maybe if you had kept airing th show in July, it would have gotten better ratings… duh. Just bring the show back for season three, air it in JULY just like you did the first season and I bet you’ll see a BIG difference!
I used to wacth the show and then I stopped.. then I restarted agaiN! I was hooked and so excited for the thirds season!!! ONLY T O FIND OUT THAT ABC FAMILY CANCELLED!

10 Things I Hate About You was one of the few shows that I looked forward to every week! It’s funny and it’s fun to predict what’s going to happen next. Like, if Kat and Patrick would stay together or if Bianca and Cameron are going to end up together. I LOVED that show! I think that ABC made a very wrong decision to cancel 10 Things I Hate About You!!!!! I and MANY others would be very happy if you brought 10 Things back!!!

I saw one episode of this show one random weeknight and i was hooked. From the first episode i thought this was my new favourite show. Then i found out it got cancelled due to low ratings. I’m really disappointed. I really loved that show. I think they should un-cancel it. Really.
i cant believe they cancelled the show! its so unfair cause they left all the stories unfinished… i really wanted a new season to come…. it was a wrong decision, ABC, very wrong…
i can’t get over that they ended the series with no ending and it was nothing like the movie. Cameron should get Bianca and Joey is supposed to get punched in the face.
ABC Family should not have cancelled the show, especially after ending the season with a big cliffhanger. I personally enjoyed the show very much and was looking forward to a third season.
