NBC recently debuted a new sitcom on Thursday nights called 100 Questions. Will this new TV show last past the summer season and become a staple of the network’s Thursday line-up?
100 Questions revolves around Charlotte Payne (Sophie Winkleman), a young woman looking for love. She’s come to a dating service and is answering 100 questions posed by a consultant named Andrew (Michael Benjamin Washington). While trying to figure out what she’s looking for in a mate, she recounts relationship stories and these memories include friends Leslie (Smith Cho), Jill (Collette Wolfe), Mike (Christopher Moynihan), and Wayne (David Walton).
The sitcom debuted on May 27th to a terrible 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.48 million viewers. That’s one of the worst premieres in NBC’s history. In week two, the demo bumped up a little (a 0.9 rating) but total viewership dropped (2.22 million). Truly horrible numbers for original programming.
The ratings for 100 Questions can’t come as much of a surprise to NBC execs as they seem to have lost faith in the series months ago. NBC originally ordered 13 episodes but they shut down production after only six were completed. The sitcom was planned to be a mid-season replacement series but was pushed into summer, a time when networks typically air repeats and burn off extra programming.
Based on the ratings, there’s no way that 100 Questions will be back for a second season. It’s also highly likely that NBC will pull the show before all six installments have aired. After all, the network is getting better ratings from repeats of its other comedies.
But, what do you think? Do you like 100 Questions? Cancel or keep it?

I saw the two episodes on Hulu. I didn’t even know it was on NBC, except I saw a picture of the cast on some website. I decided to give it a try. While the laugh track was fake and annoying during the pilot, there are some possibility with the cast and storyline. If given time to develop, the chemistry of the cast would be better. But, unfortunately, it doesn’t appear it will go beyond the six. Sad.
It is sad because I live in a big city and I have never heard of this show before today or have never seen it advertised and I mean big city. The way I found out about this show was because of Hulu. I have watched the episode one and two of this show and I say KEEP this show. So NBC make you PR people work HARDER because you have a GREAT show in your hands and you can make it GREATER it your PR people work HARDER.
The show sucks. Can it. Down with laugh tracks.
I’ve watched both epidsodes, and I must say I’m underwhelmed. I just don’t feel the chemistry between the friends, and the acting is fair. To be honest, I didn’t even notice the laugh track. But, maybe it’s because the show did so little to hold my interest that I wasn’t paying attention too closely. I won’t miss it when it’s gone – because I’m sure it will be gone soon.
I enjoy this show, but i don’t think its good enough for a second season. they way they film it looks like its suppose to be a drama. the lighting and camera angels are all weird. this show was a originally for cbs i think and they have a preview of it floating around youtube. the cbs style is much better. also i don’t think the lead is strong enough to carry the show. while the concept is cute, i just don’t think its enough. BUT i must give props to kyle riabko for doing to theme song. it sounds… Read more »
I my self did not know this show exist they apparently must not have promoted this show and by the way tv ratings from May-June 20, 2010 will always be low ratings kids are either out or still in school depending on where you leave at in the US so the networks need to or should wait until after June 20 of each and every year to air first run summer programing until they the networks get it together tv shows will always be cancelled that also applies for the Fall Winter, and Spring seasons for networks their are just… Read more »
Amen SEAL76. The laugh track is SO annoying and mis-timed on this show, that I could only take about 10 minutes of the premier episode before giving up.
The show is hilarious. Excellent writing and great cast. Problems are the visual aspect of the show (lighting is a bit dark, camera angles are weird) and the laugh track. It’s not even a GOOD laugh track!! It makes the show come off as annoying and cheesy. I also think they should abandon the wrap-arounds and just focus on the 5 friends. It’s a shame — the show has so much promise, but will ultimately fail. (as it sort’a has already).
This show is BAD, it needs to be canceled. What a waste of TV time.
I LOVE THIS SHOW.. IT’S SO FUNNY
NBC SHOULD KEEP IT
Wasn’t very funny, I thought. Seemed contrived and the acting was horrible. Glad it didn’t last.
Ok, i really liked this show i started watching it yesterday, its funny, witty, and cool, you should make more announecments about it to get more people to give it a chance.
Usually, I stay on top of new programing I did not even know this show was on. I watch America’s got talent, Living with Jillian, and Days of our Lives now on NBC since everything else is off seasion, and I never did see any promos so it doesn’t look like NBC put that much money into promoting it, so what do they expect.
At first I didn’t care for the series but by the end of episode 1 I was anticipating the next. The problem with these networks is that they put shows on ate the wrong time or date. Like the article mentions, Summer is not the time to get high viewership, the series has the potential to be good. It would not bring the ratings as the other series in the thursday night block, but I’m sure on a different night at a more appropriate season it would be doing much better than it did.
This show should be canceled. It has a laugh track. No show that has a laugh track should be aired. If the show is funny we will know when to laugh without coaching. Sienfeld would have been better without a laugh track. That was a funny show and did not need one. The show is not funny anyway and showed just go away. Bring back Happy Town. It doesn’t have a laugh track or a scream track.
