This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.

Friday night, that is the reason. Everyone is out on Friday nights. Unless you got hooked by chance (i.e. being home for some strange reason) you would haven’t have known the show exisited. I got into the habit of taping it so I wouldn’t miss it. I loved the show, and am very sad it isn’t coming back…
Please bring back A Gifted Man….instead of replacing it with that silly UnderCover Boss… seems like the reality shows always win out because they are mindless… I think A Gifted Man was cancelled because it doesnt have enough violence or sexual content… why can’t we have a good show with a appealing story and good acting….
I hope they don’t cancel it. I like all the actors, setting and stories. It may be unrealistic to some but never the less I like it.
I don’t watch a lot of tv but THIS show I watched every week without fail. I would DVR it and watch it later at night after the kids go to sleep! Please don’t cancel this show! I have been waiting for it’s return. I look forward to it!
P.S the only other show I watched and loved was Ghost whisperer and that ended too!
Great show. Hate to see it be cancelled. maybe there should have been a movie of it before hand so that we could all understand the Dr/wife relationship and what led up to her death.

I agree. Don’t get attached to a good show like a gifted man because they don’t know a good show. I hope someone gets their head together.
I LOVE this show!!! I even watch repeats on-line! I couldn’t say why it didn’t catch on a bigger audience… however some say it ONLY had 8.5 MILLION people watching it…. I say IT HAD 8.5 MILLION PEOPLE WATCHING IT!!!!! Those 8.5 million people dedicated their time and supported this show, myself included! Don’t let us down… we will continue to support! 🙂

I like the show an wish it would come back. The only problem I had was when they played repeats. I thought the show was to new for that. If any number went down that was why, cause when it was a new one I was glued.
Because nielson ratings are bull **** trust me. How can they give accurate ratings 95% of people now a days have cell phones and if they call you they ask if they reached you on a land line. If you say no this is my cell. They tell you thanks for talking with us but you do not quality for our survey and hang up. How many of them cell phone users were watching A GIFTED MAN?

This is a great show. Why would they cancel this? I can name quite a few shows that need to be cancelled but not this one.

Another good show will go by the wayside. I could have told you that it was going to happen. They renew Criminal Minds, which is the most disturbing show ever aired, and get rid of two shows that had to do with “spirits.” This also teaches me not to get attached to any show anymore.
