The first episode registered a 1.4 in the 18-49 demographic and 9.45 million total viewers. It was in second place for the timeslot, behind Kitchen Nightmares in the demo. However, A Gifted Man easily won the timeslot in terms of total viewers, attracting nearly as many viewers as NBC, ABC, and CW combined.
Year-to-year, Gifted Man matched now-cancelled Medium’s demo number but improved on total viewership by more than 50%. CBS cancelled Medium with an average 1.4 rating so this wasn’t a great start.

These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

I love this show! I have it on automatic record in case I have to miss it. Please renew!!!!!
Patrick Wilson inhabited the role so well that his previous work seems not to fit him. His talent and the depth and subtlety of the writing of such powerful emotions of loss and redemption is wasted by the business model. The amazing finale leaves me saying…..the network model for making money is the worst path for high quality tv drama. This show makes money, but not for the maw of the whale that measures network ratings. I love this show. I am a romantic, what can I say. Bring it back.
It took it a few shows to get going but, it is , one of the best shows. I only hope CBS can find it to bring it back for a second season.
CBS please renew this show for a second season!! I love this show. This is the first of its kind and a lot more of a story to tell the viewers!
I have become a loyal fan of this show and have spoken with friends who feel the same way. We all make it a point to watch each week. Please let it continue!
PLS, PLS, PLS DO NOT CANCEL A GIFTED MAN!!!!!!! One of THE BEST SHOWS ON TV! Patrick Wilson is AMAZING & GORGEOUS. The kiss w/Kate in the elevator was one of the BEST on screen kisses I’ve seen in a long time. Great premise for the show and always entertaining. Maybe if it had a better time slot other than Friday nite!! If I can’t watch at its time, I ALWAYS DVR it. Please bring it back next year. Give it a chance!!!!!!

Terrific acting and writing. Love the development of background stories for ALL the main characters! Best show on CBS! Please keep the series – looking forward to Season Two as their stories unfold.
CBS please don’t cancel A Gifted Man. I love the cast and the show.
I agree. This is a good show. The subject matter is always interesting and the actors play well against one another. I do hope it will be renewed for another season. It will be sorely missed if not. His (Patrick Wilson) family lives in the Tampa Bay area so it is like a homeboy does good in the area and we all love the show.
Please do not cancel,Love it
