The peacock network doesn’t want quite as much of About a Boy. Deadline is reporting that NBC has trimmed the sitcom’s second season from 22 to 20 episodes.
About a Boy revolves around San Francisco songwriter Will Freeman (David Walton) who had a big hit. It set him up for life financially — and gave him a lot of freedom and free time. His world is turned upside down when a charming boy named Marcus (Benjamin Stockham) and single mom named Fiona (Minnie Driver) move in next door.
About a Boy has been really struggling this season and it seems very likely to be cancelled by spring. It’s currently averaging a 1.2 in the 18-49 demographic with 4.15 million viewers. That’s down 36-40% when compared to last year’s figures.
zWhat do you think? Do you like About a Boy? Why aren’t more people watching? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Every sitcom or seasons of stuff that I like are always cancelled
I know the reason
TV is usually geared for 4 th 5th grade mentality
The good stuff with big words and meaty intelligent ideas and words gets cancelled..Forvthat reason I hate TV
Why don’t you get public opinion BEFORE you cut a show, if public opinion even matters.
this is horrible!!!! I absolutely loved this show. big mistake
Oops! That was supposed to say good not gun!
Out of all the ‘so called comedies’ this is/was a great show. Always looked forward to it!! Good writers, great actors and chemistry between them! What a mistake to get rid of it!!! You should bring it back!! Sad it is gone, a gun show 🙂
One of the best shows on TV we always looked forward to it ..
I have been looking forward to watching ” About A Boy” again. I really loved the show. Great cast and the shows were funny and sometimes nutty. Especially good when you’re feeling stressed. It was a good feeling show. Really wish it would be renewed.
Really sorry to learn that the show, About a Boy, has been cancelled. It was a great comedy with good acting. NBC has a history of cutting shows without giving it’s viewers any closure. Guess that’s why I prefer to watch CBS the majority of the time!
Oh please don’t cancel “About a Boy”! There are so few really good sitcoms left, and this is one of them! It’s such a refreshing relief from all of that “reality” garbage. The characters are sweet and funny and endearing. Such a great show! I would love to see it keep going.
I looked forward to “About a Boy” every week. Love the cast & the story lines. I don’t know why more people didn’t watch but I know my household is very sad that it has been cancelled. What can we do to get it back A.S.A.P. ??????
Disappointed to see “About A Boy” cancelled. I am not in the demographic and enjoyed it very much. There were lines that made me laugh out loud. Of course it was a little bit fantasy mixed, but mixed with happy ending and GOOD people. Sad it was cut back and sounds like not renewed.
Well said!
