NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
I love this show! It had a great plot, and left you hanging every week. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t air the rest of them.
NBC blew it… Allegience is very good. Replacing it with the Slap! Idiotic. All repeats tonight! I found additional episodes On Demand.
It’s a great show . They should not cancell the show
Keep Allegiance and cancel Date Line
Great show bring it back
the slap is a total crap show—loved allegiance . Plse bring it back or hope another network or even Netflix can pick it up for more seasons! Characters are great!
Allegiance ROCKED! Makes me sad that the shows that we really like always get cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes i think they should indeed air it back on
I think they should give the series a chance ,, they keep putting on great shows and then cancelling all the good shows for reality-based shows ,give it a break already to another reality show,I’m sick of them, you get us hooked and then don’t give it a chance ,or at least finish out the ending,so so ridiculous to do that,I’m going to stop watching this channel period,.. you all can’t seem to. Get it together here,,how do you just end a program like that, you never finish what you start, that is so crazy,,,,by a disgruntled tv watcher,,,I hope you all come… Read more »
do NOT cancel Allegiance.
it’s The only semi well acted show on NBC.
thank you!
There is a petition “save allegiance” on change.org
yes there is a petition. you can find out more on allegiance facebook page.
This is a great show. You think maybe they could give it at least an 8 week run? Geez. NBC needs to get it together.
Whats on NBC tonight–repeat1. Repeat 2 and dateline. WOW
I watched Episode 10 of Allegiance last night. It was the most anticipated program on TV. Hopefully NBC will receive the numbers from Comcast, On Demand.
I have to assume that NBC plans to rerun the 1st 5 shows along with the other 8 episodes, later this summer. Otherwise some heads should role for their stupidity.
I totally agree. Great to have a great show with a great plot.
We’ll see what great ratings NBC gets tonight 04/09 with their repeats and Dateline. This is why NBC is last in the networks
They should not cancel this series
Dumb move NBC. THIS WAS A GREAT SHOW
It rivals the best of the shows, well written, exciting drama, excellent cast. My wife and I looked forward to it each week. Definitely should not have been cancelled.
I loved Allegiance! My family and I really were getting into it! NBC screwed up by cancelling it!
I actually love the show. It’s going to be really sad if they do not air the rest of the episodes.
