Barney Fife lives on. A statue of Andy Griffith star Don Knotts has been built in the actor’s West Virginia hometown, UPI reports.
Knotts played the lovable-but-dimwitted Deputy Sheriff Fife on The Andy Griffith Show from 1960 to 1965.
The comedic actor, who passed away in 2006, was born in Morgantown, W.Va. The town has planned an unveiling ceremony for the statue, which stands by the Metropolitan Theatre.
Aside from Andy Griffith, Knotts starred in several films and TV shows, including Three’s Company and The Love Boat.

the funniest man on TV today
A great humble actor who played the part of a conceited character. He and others in his era are missed.
