It appears that plans for season three of BBC’s Atlantis have sunk. The TV show, which airs on BBC America here in the States, has been cancelled after two seasons.
On Atlantis, a young man named Jason (Jack Donnelly) goes in search of his long-missing father and ends up on the shores of ancient Atlantis. He’s befriended by a pair of unlucky locals — former prize fighter Hercules (Mark Addy) and intellectual Pythagoras (Robert Emms) — as well as a revered Oracle (Juliet Stevenson). Others in the cast include Sarah Parish, Aiysha Hart, and Jemima Rooper.
BBC announced the show’s cancellation this way: “The final seven episodes of Atlantis will transmit on BBC One in spring. We would like to thank Urban Myth Films and all the cast and crew but the series will not be re-commissioned. We are very proud of both series but to keep increasing the range of BBC One drama we have to make difficult decisions to bring new shows through.”
Six of the 13 episodes of season two have aired so far in the US. No word on when they’ll be released here.

I agree w/ every single person on the 1st page I read. I am a HUGE mythology person.I loved watching all of the different version (including the original) Jason and the Argonauts movies. I have seen every different Perseus or Percy movie. When it came to school I aced that portion of class everytime. So I just like others ,we get into these kinds of shows and run 2 or if they are lucky like Merlin it barely make it 5 (I think), then butt heads take it off. One of the more interesting programs of the BBC. The actors are well casted for their rolls, the plots are adventurous, and the program does provide insights into ancient Greek culture. I think this was an incorrect decision to cancel because what is intended to replace it? If another serious drama or comedy is planned-do not bother. Atlantis was also a unique subject and entertaining. I think the producers will be hard press to find another program that will captivate the imagination as Atlantis has done. My compliments and thanks to the cast and crew of Atlantis.

This is rubbish what a way to finish a series if they was going to close the series they should have ended it better instead of making it look like it was coming back for a third series.the BBC make me sick.
It is always the same old thing with BBC… My friends asked me to watch end up chasing the entire Season 1 and Season 2.. then wandering when will Season 3 be out to find out it has been canceled. Now i can prove to my friend why i always call BBC as Biggest ******** Channel.

I don’t think it should be canceled, its one of those very few Greek mythology that’s very interesting.
There has to be a season three you can’t bring a dead character back to life and end it there it’s not right.

My son and I loved watching Atlantis together. Great family viewing. Ridiculous plot,action packed,funny,sad and consistently well acted. Only the Beeb can do this type of show. Very sad.
Omg that is the best series I have seen on a long time..The Best..you guys do know slot if us are not doing cable..most of us are on hulu..I watched this whole Series non stop..and it was worth it.. Can Elina would be a stupid move..amother series I love cancelled not fair!!!!

I love watching the show. I am very disappointed that the show has been canceled. I love all the characters, especially Jason. I really hope that you will reconsider and bring it back on BBC America. PLEASE. I have been very sick these past two years and unable to get and do anything, except go to doctor’s appointments, literally. This show really made my day. For all the people out their who love this show and can’t get out and do anything please bring it back on the air. PLEASE.
I cant’ believe BBC cancelled the show, I loved the show, and it’s really sad because didn’t really finished. I pictured all those possibilities for Jason, Medeia e Ariadne, and it’s not gonna happend. I won’t now the final story. I’m disappointed with BBC.

Dear Shae, Hi I’m Antony yes I agree with you about the beeb’s decision not to make a third series of Atlantis —— which leaves a lot of loose ends unfinished, such as does Araedne claim her rightful place on the throne?, or does the back from the dead Pasiphae stop her in her tracks?,we may never know; I wonder if viewing figures were poor in America and this country is the reason? if this is the beeb’s policy then the same thing could happen to another excellent series the Musketeers!. I am sick of getting in to good shows like Atlantis that are cancelled without an ending. It should be made illegal to do so. Its like selling a movie ticket and not showing the last 20 minutes.
If Atlantis is not renewed I will NEVER watch another BBC show!
