Lifetime has reportedly cancelled their new BAPs TV show after four episodes. Two installments will remain unaired.
A reality show, BAPs follows a group of affluent African-American friends from St. Louis who self-identify as “BAPs” — Black American Princesses and Princes. The show debuted on July 23rd to weak ratings.
Today, the cast received bad news emails from Asylum Entertainment (which produces the show) which reads in part, “I wanted to let you know that Lifetime informed us that they will not be airing the last 2 episodes of BAPS. We’re very sorry it panned out this way. It’s very difficult to build an audience for an ensemble show like this one, but we’re very proud of the show and happy to have had the experience working with you.”
What do you think? Did you watch BAPs? Would you like to see the remaining episodes?
I would like to see the last to episode. Bring it back.
I want to see more Rai Rai. She was the only character with sense.
I didnt like the show BAPs st all the cast is not even known for this in St.Louis I knowbecause I am a resident in the city. The cast are not even well known so it wouldnt have that many supporters and the lifestyles they live does not make them a princess Anisha came from a very urban and rural area and sill resides in one now as we saw on the show.I hated the first episode because we do not enetertain ourselves by going to the symphony for fun it was just a phony representation of a group of… Read more »
Yes, I have viewed this show and I’m not surprised to see it go. In the past I use to watch lifetime but, I felt this could have been done better by showing me your lineage and what changes you made in or for your people (Blacks). Instead you show me women who were given the best in life the silver spoon type of life many of us wish and have longed for but, they are just as ratchet as the very people Anisha would be afraid of. Things you see on tv are supposed to be fantasy but this… Read more »
I watched this show OnDemand when I couldn’t sleep at night. I thought Anisha and Kristen both were a couple of phonies and waste of A LOT of space. I would like to see the last two episodes since I’ve seen the first four, but that would be more than enough. As someone who was raised in a way that would make me a BAP (if I were ridiculous enough to identify myself that way) I was really appalled by some of the behavior. If you a truly part of any “elite” group, you don’t have to keep stating it.… Read more »
Well thank god that show was cancelled, I hated it,the main character Anisha was a pop down, no class wanna be somebody, first of all she acted as if her **** don’t stink, and am I the only one that saw how tacky her home looked, for a BLACK American princess, her place was sure small and clustered, she spat in the other girl face, the guys,so called Princes were all wanna faking, the show was bull shot and so we’re the cast members,so bye, bye, the members of the cast needs to blame anish, she was trying to hard to be miss proper, with her ugly ass ex-husband
I watched to show to understand exactly what a “BAP” was. I only saw two of the women in an affluent background. The main character, Anisha, didn’t seem to live in an affluent setting. Did she even have her own car? The show started out with Anisha spitting in Kristen. “Here we go again…” I thought. Why can’t we have a show that shows black women pulling together for a positive cause instead of the insecurities and selfishness of themselves. All this show proved was money don’t make manners. Either you are raised and taught to handle life’s conundrums or… Read more »
Farewell to baps (b!tch**and problems )
ALSO WHAT EVER THE REASON THE CLAIM FOR NOT SHOWING THE REMAIN EPISODES COULD BE NO WORSE THAN THE VIOLENCE, BLOOD AND MAYHEIM IN THEIR RECENT YEARS MOVIES!!!
They probably didn’t air the last two episodes of BAPS because of the death of Michael Brown and the national attention that story received. BAPS would have just added fuel to the fire with the bad publicity associated with Saint Louis.
I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN LIFETIME TV. I USED TO LOVE TO WATCH LIFETIME MANY YEARS AGO WHEN THEY HAD SHOWS WORTH WATCHING, BUT I STOPPED WATCHING LIFETIME AND SAW THIS SHOW “BAPS” AND THOUGHT I WOULD WATCH IT. IT IS JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER REALITY SHOWS, SO WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL OR PROBLEM WITH AIRING IT. I FEEL THIS IS IRRESPONSIBLE OF LIFETIME TO START A SERIES AND THEN NOT LET THE REMAINING EPISODES AIR. THEY COULD HAVE AT LEAST COMPLETED THE SERIES FOR VIEWERS WHO WERE WATCHING IT, AND JUST NOT BROUGHT IT BACK NEXT SEASON. I… Read more »
I liked the show and I would like to see the last two episodes.
TYPO!!! Just because a person has initials behind their name does not mean they have class or make them a “BAP”.
I am so glad BAPS was cancelled. The city of Saint Louis has experienced a tragedy that has reached nationwide attention-the shooting death of Michael Brown. The bigger tragedy is the racism that was exposed as the underlying factor in this shooting. we are experiencing enough pain because of racism. We don’t need the added salt in our wounds that this show has produced in the form of classism. It’s either city versus county, Black Jack versus Berkeley, the good part of Ferguson versus the bad part of Ferguson(the part where Michael Brown was killed), and college-educated versus high school… Read more »
Yes I watched the show and I really enjoyed it and I wanted to come back!
I watched the show trying to get an understanding of these people. I had never heard of a BAP in my life and the way these people explained it I thought they would be more dignified. Spitting in people’s face, acting a fool at a ball and looking down on people isn’t really dignified to me. I would have liked to see the “feud” between Anisha and Kristen resolved because it just seemed silly. To me thi show was no different than all the other ratchet reality shows
