It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Seriously, tired of television companies throwing out good programs. To add more stupid “reality” tv series. I hope Battle Creek gets picked up by another net work or CBS wakes up and renews it. You don’t throw a baby out because it didn’t do what you wanted in the first few weeks of it’s life. With social media you need to give it time to grow, gather a following. Too many networks are happy to throw good programs off the air because they don’t like the little number. With DVR’s, and on demand you don’t get a good number of… Read more »
Am sorry that we have to watch dancing with the stars, the voice, and reality shows – this was a nice change. Hopefully someone will pick up the show,.
It had competition, airing opposite Mad Men.
I love, love, love this show. The chemistry between the characters is fantastic. I couldn’t believe my eyes today when my Post TV section said “series finale” tonight. Please don’t cancel this funny and entertaining police show. Hopefully, another network will pick up Battle Creek. I’m holding a good thought.
I loved this show! Please give it another chance. Great writing and love the characters! So tired of watching a new show just to see it cancelled after the first season.
I’m so disappointed, this is a great show! How can a network put a new show on Sunday night up against blockbusters like The Good Wife, Once Upon a Time, Revenge and not give it a little time to find a audience???!!
I hope another network picks it up. I really enjoyed it. I am NOT looking forward to the series finale tonight ;(
I guess that numbers are what make good programs. I notice that some of the worst shows are kept on because of the scheduling. It’s not how good the show is, it’s what this show is up against, or they never took into consideration viewers use their DVR to record and watch later. That’s why there are only a few good show on CBS left to RECORD.
Was a good show. It would be a great idea if another station would pick up the series. Great chemistry between the characters & good story lines.
My wife and I liked the show. It got better as the weeks went by. I think it got a bad time slot.
bring it back—good show–not too serious but good plots.
I loved this show! I am so sorry to hear it is being cancelled! I agree that networks rarely give shows a chance. Maybe a different night would work better.
This show has gotten better every week. I’m hooked
Please bring it back!!! I really love this show!
I too hope another network will air this series. It’s the Goldilocks of cop/crime shows. Not too gruesome, not too technology infused, just right.
Well, heck. I am so sick of reality shows, and this program was a really interesting one. Why can’t networks give good shows time to build up a following?
I agree with you I am also so sick of reality shows. I can’t stand them I never watch them. I really enjoyed Battle Creek and I am so very disappointed that it was cancelled.
