It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
So disappointing! Great show, good story lines, and a great mix of humor. Dean winters character is terrific. Too bad the network didn’t give this one a chance. Would love another network to pick it up.
So an intelligent, unusual, adult program gets the axe in favor of more formula dreck.
I’m sorry that this show has been cancelled. It was one that we enjoyed. More and more we are turning the TV off because there is nothing on that we enjoy. Maybe we should thank CBS and other stations for weaning us off TV 🙂
This is the best new series this year, great ensemble cast with interesting back stories that add interest to their characters and their relationships. Funny, ironic, complicated and original..the writing is really good. Why did CBS not promote this more to generate new viewer interest. We find that it is getting better as the season progresses. Very disappointed that CBS threw in the towel before one season was completed. Is it too late to bring it back????
Bring back the show! Finally we have found a show that our teenagers will sit down, take their eyes off their phones and watch with us. Give it a chance! The characters are evolving and the audience are learning different facets of each character and we are eager to know more. There are people out there that actually want to be entertained without seeing blood, gore, bare butts & breasts, four day hook ups, scripted reality shows and such. Truly would like to know, why the network will not give good shows time to build up a following?
Please, do not stop the show!! It is fun and it is smart……..maybe too smart!! No like reality shows!!!
Networks don’t give series a chance to develop a following anymore CBS nearly canceled Blue Bloods after its first season. ABC pulled the plug on Body of Proof just as it was gaining an audience. I agree, I’m sick of so-called “reality shows” which are obviously scripted. Networks are underestimating people’s intelligence.
I think you should reconsider and bring the show back. How about putting them in a different time slot.
I loved this show. It took a few weeks to grow on me but I now love it! They do not give television series enough time for people to bond with the characters. It takes some time. I hope another network picks this up.
Battle Creek is an unusually watchful series. The two main characters are balanced as in real life. Unfortunately the show’s late night spot didn’t help to get sufficient viewers. If CBS can renew Extent, the network deserves to go out of business. That show doesn’t even have an adequate sf plot. Please renew Battle Creek. Star Trek had the same problems in it’s first years. Don’t throw away a great show with potential!
I love this show! The cast has great chemistry, especially Dean Winters & Josh Duhamel. I hope another network will pick it up & maybe put it on a different night!!
Love everything about this show. Can’t believe CBS is cancelling it. Hope it finds a home somewhere else.
I may not be in your desired demographic, but I spend money! Loved the show and to realize some of the junk on TV, on CBS as a matter of fact, will stay and Battle Creek go is very disappointing. Hell with the numbers for once. Let the show grow.
Also, the Battle Creek Facebook page you can reportedly send a message directly to the producer. It has a message bar in the title picture.
really we find a show that is good ad they get rid of it i mean if it doesnt have half naked ppl and every one sleeping with every one it gets the boot its sad it make my Sunday night
