It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
I gave this show five or six episodes and it just dropped the ball. It’s virtually a low rent version of every other TV show and looked like they were trying for the bare minimum, but not be stereotypical. Once they went to the Patton Oswalt episode, that was enough for me. Patton Oswalt was a great actor, along with the rest of the main characters, but the Rob Ford scandal isn’t something you want to poke humor at, it’s something people just want to forget. They tried to make up for it by getting the lovely b***hy Candace Bergen,… Read more »

This show should not be cancel. I have been anxiously awaiting the new episodes to air. I am very disappointed in CBS for not giving this show a chance. It was the ONLY show I tuned into their station to watch.
I LOVED the show. It needs another chance!
Battle Creek is an amazing show that deserves a second season! Fans have started a petition that has over 6,500 signatures so far: https://www.change.org/p/cbs-savebattlecreek
No!!! …. I loved battle Creek me and My dad watched and recorded every episode we totally loved it I’m so extremely mad they cancelled it… They need to renew it for a second season. We loved that show it was honestly one of our favorite weekend shows. We looked forward to it every Sunday. You need to seriously RE considered renewing the series, you could do so much with it. Like what happens to milt after he got shot in the cornfield, what happens to Russ and Holly? There are so many things things you Could do I wish… Read more »
I absolutely love this show. It is intelligent, thought-provoking, and unusual. Both dark and funny, mysterious and witty. It is a shame that CBS was so short-sighted to have canceled it so prematurely.
I agree about the talent and bad time slot. The other factor is that both leads took a few episodes to warm up to: Dean Winters’ character’s deadpan delivery and cantakerous personality didn’t show his warm side until the romance started to develop. Duchamel’s cardboard Dudley Do-Right character didn’t get interesting until his flaws started to show. This development took more episodes than CBS and the audience apparently were willing to give it. CBS should give the show another chance and put it in the 9 or 10 pm slot on a weeknight. Get Gilligan involved — If anyone can… Read more »

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please reconsider renewing a well written ,entertaining series with lovable characters and great plots!
My family and i really enjoy this show. We will be sorry to see it go.
Battle Creek got better the longer it ran. Such a shame more people did not watch. I was truly looking forward to the next season.
A lot a talent is an ill timed slot. CBS Executives are out to lunch and lack vision. They would be wise to revisit the programing slot and make things happen. With all of the Junk out there this was a great show to watch and enjoy the actors doing their part in a grand manner. The writers could use a pep talk for wasting the talent.
