William Shatner and Henry Winkler have each had very successful TV shows in their careers. They’ve also had shows cancelled after one season. So, how’s Better Late Than Never been doing in the ratings? Could it return for season two on NBC?
On Better Late Than Never, Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw and George Foreman embark on the journey of a lifetime, traveling across Asia on their own, with no schedule and no itinerary. The only help comes from Jeff Dye, a young tech-savvy comedian. He has an agenda of his own and he isn’t above leading the men off track.
The series launched on August 23rd to a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.35 million viewers. It was a positive start in the ratings — in part because it followed NBC’s very popular America’s Got Talent series. The second episode did about the same and the third installment dropped only 6%.
Based on these ratings, it seems very likely that the peacock network would want to order a second season of Better Late Than Never. It’s unclear if the stars would want to make another season or if the cast/locale would change in season two. Regardless, the numbers are very positive so I think we’ll be seeing a second season next summer.
But, what do you think? Do you think Better Late Than Never should be cancelled or renewed for season two? Would you like to see the same cast return, perhaps visiting a different part of the world? How about a new cast?
9/22 update: NBC has renewed Better Late Than Never for a second season. Details here.
Please, please bring the guys back for another season…. over and over!, As over 60’s travelers my husband and I loved how much fun the guys allowed themselves to enjoy! Terry’s comments on having fun and just let go was huge. Just because we are over 60 doesn’t mean we don’t know funny!! Hope many more seasons are in the works! ( we just returned from Thailand and Chang Mai in April this year and we are off to China next month so the. area selection was perfect !)
Omg this is the best show on TV right now, I never laughed so hard in my life. Please keep this show on the air, these guys are so good together.
Absolutely need a second season! Me and my parents LOVE this show so much! Me and my mom watched the second episode together without any idea of what it was about [we missed the first episode] and we had to hold back our laugh so much just to make sure we didn’t wake up my dad! We show my dad and he loved it too! He described it the best way I can think of: “It feels like a group of old friends going on a trip together. A lot of the banter sounds like stuff that me and Clay… Read more »
I found the entire series to be delightful and I’ve laughed out loud so many times while watching. The five men interact so well with each other and it’s very interesting to see their reactions to these exotic places. It’s a learning experience for the viewers as well. I hope this series continues for as long as the five men (and I really enjoy watching this particular combination) are willing and able to participate.
Great show! Great cast! Laughed through the whole show! Should be renewed with the same cast!
YES! We loved it! Send these gentlemen off to India or South America. Please!
I would love to see the show come back. My husband and myself never laughed so hard. The five of them were good together, but might be nice to see a new cast, just as funny to travel about. Can’t wait to see what happens!!
Really loved the show.
I absolutely loved this show. I couldn’t go 5 minutes without laughing. Great cast! I vote for a Season 2 with the same cast.
What an AWESOME show! LOVED it…funny and informative! Hope the cast stays the same too!
I never laughed so hard. Please bring back Better Late Than Never with same cast members. I laughed so hard. It is a wonderful show. SO BRING IT BACK FOR SEASON TWO.
“Steel Man-gnolias” love these guy’s, want to see them again! A great way to de-stress, at the end of a long day! 48 and single mom of 2 teen boy’s. Now I want to travel to Asia and see the places they have been.
I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was very heartfelt and a great learning experience I know for them but for me as well. They made a beautiful Journey and I wish I could afford to do it myself but watching it on NBC was it a joy! Watching these four Superstars and their sidekick was amazing. Please, please do a second season with all the same superstars and their sidekick!
This show is a breath of fresh air, love it, saw it every week. Finally something GOOD on television, hope it will return.
