William Shatner and Henry Winkler have each had very successful TV shows in their careers. They’ve also had shows cancelled after one season. So, how’s Better Late Than Never been doing in the ratings? Could it return for season two on NBC?
On Better Late Than Never, Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw and George Foreman embark on the journey of a lifetime, traveling across Asia on their own, with no schedule and no itinerary. The only help comes from Jeff Dye, a young tech-savvy comedian. He has an agenda of his own and he isn’t above leading the men off track.
The series launched on August 23rd to a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.35 million viewers. It was a positive start in the ratings — in part because it followed NBC’s very popular America’s Got Talent series. The second episode did about the same and the third installment dropped only 6%.
Based on these ratings, it seems very likely that the peacock network would want to order a second season of Better Late Than Never. It’s unclear if the stars would want to make another season or if the cast/locale would change in season two. Regardless, the numbers are very positive so I think we’ll be seeing a second season next summer.
But, what do you think? Do you think Better Late Than Never should be cancelled or renewed for season two? Would you like to see the same cast return, perhaps visiting a different part of the world? How about a new cast?
9/22 update: NBC has renewed Better Late Than Never for a second season. Details here.
I couldn’t wait for the next episode to come on! I am 37 years old and my Dad is 80 we both laughed so hard our cheeks hurt! It is also something we can all watch as a family! Finally a show we all love! It works for all ages. Please bring the same group of guys back together for another season! We are looking forward to it!
I absolutely loved every minute of this show. Please bring it back for another season, same cast and a new adventure. I am telling everyone I know to watch it.
Great show. U cant trust Television anymore you start to like the show then they cancel it. This show was great i dont watch reality shows , cooking shows , travel shows but this caught my eye. After seeing Henry on a talk show talk about this then from a co-worker mentioned it i had to check it out and i was great.
The network didn’t cancel the show it was advertised as a mini series. Reason being I believe was to see how it would go. Hopefully after being popular enough with the test run of being a mini series hopefully they can turn it to a full length season.

Loved, loved, loved this show. This is the first show in years that my husband and I watched together. The cast is pure magic together. Bring it back soon and please don’t change a thing!
I was entertained by all 4 episodes. My husband and I would love to see a 2nd season.
Love the show! The guys seemed in the beginning to be an unusual group but were very funny together. Haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. Informative about SE Asia, beautiful locales, funny custom experiences and interesting, especially the secluded peaceful village and their visit with the elephants, seemed to be a spiritual an touching experience. Please bring the show back for a second season.
More! More! This show is hilarious. Best chemistry I’ve seen. And it’s truly touching and inspiring.
