Shaw Media in Canada has cancelled Bomb Girls after two seasons. The TV series airs on Global Television in Canada and on ReelzChannel here in the US.
Bomb Girls revolves around a group of Canadian women who work in a munitions factory as they build bombs for the Allies during World War II. The cast includes Meg Tilly, Jodi Balfour, Charlotte Hegele, Ali Liebert, Antonio Cupo, Sebastian Pigott, Peter Outerbridge, Anastasia Phillips, Jim Codrington, and Lisa Norton. Rosie O’Donnell guest-starred during the second season.
Though there won’t be a third season, Global has ordered a two-hour movie that will wrap up the series. A release notes that it “will conclude the rich storylines and the amazing journeys of these beloved characters which have strongly resonated with the show’s loyal fans.”
The TV movie will air in Winter 2014 in Canada. It seems likely that Reelz will purchase domestic rights to air the conclusion around that same time.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Bomb Girls has been cancelled? Are you looking forward to the movie?
To “parrot” everyone else: Quality show with a great cast! REELZ, please don’t let this one go by the wayside like this. If the actors are willing, give them and their fans a Season 3 with a grand 2 hour series finale. The show deserves it.
I am so sad that the series is cancelled, I absolutely loved it and will be looking out for the movie.
This is why I seldom watch TV> It is filled with stupid reality shows and very few things worth watching. This was a good informative show. You could be entertained and learn something worthwhile. It makes me feel the country is filled with Morons! If there is not a large enough audience for a show like this but the STUPID Kardashians continue to be renewed, well that just says it all. Sad very sad.
Just one more thing….I’m really disappointed! I’ve heard that if enough people write in to the station, who sponsors the series ( in this case REELZ, ) it could change their minds, therefore they might repair the series. This program really touches on issues that at that time were not allowed to come to the surface, but were truly there. It also shows current audiences how life was back then and some of the issues they faced. LET’S GET THIS SHOW BACK ON THE AIR!!!!!
I’m a HUGE fan! How can we get this show back on the air for season 3 ?
Why, sure…get a good family show with a minimum of violence and sex and a plot with good morals and historical value and they decide “Let’s just cancel it.” Like Rosie before me noted…let’s keep Honey Boo Boo and Fake Desperate Housewives and Batchelor and Batchelorette shows where they fall in love with 3-4 partners at once.
Figures these morons would cancel a good show worth watching. They’ll probably make another idiot a millionaire with some dumb “reality” show. The show actually had some substance about the WWII era.
I’m saddened by the news. I’ve never missed an episode. I wonder what prompted the decision not to continue the series. A movie would have been nice as an addition to the series, not in conclusion of it. I’ll watch it just the same.
Just when there’s something worthwhile watching, they have to cancel it.
My mother worked in a munitions during WW2 and that gives me some idea what was happening at her work place.
Damn, too bad they had to cancel a decent show.
Hope they continue season 3, and I can’t wait to see the movie!
well this is upsetting. My mother and i never missed an episode, i will greatly miss bomb girls 🙁
Geez!!! I had just congratulated Reelz via email for airing such a great show and now I just read Bomb Girls was cancelled. But let’s not lose another season of Honey Boo Boo.
How unfortunate for the millions of fans tuning in each week. Bomb Girls is a true testament to the emergence of the women’s movement in the workplace. I’m sure this show elicited rich generational conversations from our own “Bomb Girls” still in our lives. I hope they bring the show back. I don’t think I would watch the movie.
I have enjoyed the show Bomb Girls and am really disappointed that they have decided to cancel the show. I just loved the history and the story lines are really interesting. Is there anyway this can decision can be changed? If that is not possible then yes, please at least give us a movie.
Very very disappointed that Bomb Girls is cancelled. It is my absolute favorite show. I have really enjoyed the first two seasons. The actresses are amazing and I love the story line. So sorry to see it go.
I am so disappointed Bomb Girls has been cancelled. I absolutely love this show. It is such a classy, and amazingly well written show. Also, the actresses and actors are so amazing. I would love to see Bomb Girls return for a season 3 and so on.
