We don’t have to waste time wondering if the Broadchurch TV show will be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season. More than a year ahead of this installment’s premiere on BBC America, creator Chris Chibnall made it clear he was working toward a third and final season. We’re still tracking the Broadchurch season three ratings, for a couple of reasons. It can help predict the likelihood of a spin-off, sequel, or later revival. It also helps us gauge the chances of other BBC America shows. What’s more — it keeps us off the streets at night.
A British crime drama on the BBC America cable channel, Broadchurch stars Olivia Colman and David Tennant. The cast also includes Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan, Arthur Darvill, Carolyn Pickles, Adam Wilson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Georgina Campbell, Charlotte Beaumont, Emily Allison, Roy Hudd, Benji Yapp, Matthew Gravelle, Mariah Gale, and William Andrews. The series takes place in the small seaside town of Broadchurch and centers on Detective Inspector Alex Hardy (Tennant) and Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller. In season three, Hardy and Miller investigate a serious sexual assault which rocks this tight-knit Dorset community.
Below are the show’s TV ratings, typically the best way to tell if the series will be cancelled or renewed. In this case, the show’s UK ratings may have a greater impact on the series’ future. These figures will be updated as the weeks progress.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Are you still watching the Broadchurch TV series? Are you disappointed it is ending with season three? Would you have watched season four on BBC America?
I absolutely love this series! Unlike American crime dramas, they don’t rely on gunfights, violence and car chases. Instead, they develop a plot that pulls you in. Smart writing. Fantastic acting. The characters grow on you so much from season to season. I’m very disappointed to see it’s not going forward with a season 4.
I am devastated by Broadchurch ending. Loved the twists and turns. Excellent acting and superior writing.
I loved Broadchurch and I’m terribly sad that it isn’t renewed.
Broadchurch gives us a look into the serious side of police dramas in Great Britain. Real people making real mistakes during investigations. People being human as opposed to the 49 minute ‘crime solved’ mentality of American television.
I hope the series continues. It also helps us to understand the thick British accents so many British actors use. Broadchurch and Shetland forced us to be better listeners.
Sorry this series ended at three seasons! Maybe a sequel or revival later?
Loved Broadchurch! Binge watched on Netflix. Wish it would continue. Would love to see Mark and Beth get back together and Joe to finally confess . Would like to see Ellie Miller meet someone worthy of her and Alex Hardy also to meet someone but not Ellie. Anyway sorry it is over
Truly wonderful show! Scripts, setting and acting are all inspired. Please, please let it be continued!
Great show!It needs to be picked up by Netflix and carried on as a series!!
Sorry there won’t be a season 4. It was a great show. Please reconsider..
