Here’s the press release:
Call Me Fitz begins production on Season 4; welcomes Michael Gross to the cast
HALIFAX – October 22, 2012 – Entertainment One (eOne), Amaze Film + Television, and Big Motion Pictures, together with Astral’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) are pleased to announce that production has begun on 10 new episodes of the dark comedy Call Me Fitz, starring Jason Priestley.
Michael Gross, best known for his role on the hit series Family Ties, joins the cast as Pat Childs, an eco-industrialist intent on destroying the used-car industry and in turn, the entire Fitzpatrick family.Gross recently appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and has also guest starred on Parks and Recreation and Brothers and Sisters.
The critically acclaimed Call Me Fitz follows the misadventures of Richard “Fitz” Fitzpatrick as he battles his inner conscience, Larry (Ernie Grunwald), an off-beat do-gooder intent on healing Fitz’s mangled psyche, one hilarious disaster at a time. The seriesairs in 82 countries around the world, and picked up seven Gemini Awards (nominated for 16) last fall. It recently won a Golden Nymph Award for Priestley at the 2012 Monte Carlo Television Festival, for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Season 4 is now being shot in studio and on location in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Season 3 is now airing on HBO Canada Sundays at 8:30 p.m. ET and on DIRECTV’s Audience Network in the U.S. Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET.
“I’m thrilled to be joining this hilariously irreverent series, particularly since I’ll be given plenty of opportunities to stick it to Jason Priestley’s character,” said Gross. “It’s about time someone put Fitz in his place, and about time people got to see a side of Michael Gross they don’t often get to see. Hold on to your hats, audience – you’re gonna love it!”
“Mr. Gross is a hero of the family comedy, and I relish the opportunity to turn that squeaky persona on its ass. Season 4 is poised to be our darkest and funniest yet, and Michael is the perfect addition to the Fitz family dysfunction,” said show creator and Executive Producer Sheri Elwood. “Get ready for more than just skeletons in the Fitz family closet. We’ll get to see how it all began.”
Acclaimed stand-up comic and actor Jeremy Hotz will also guest star in Season 4, as a frazzled, disillusioned social worker investigating the Fitzpatrick clan.
Createdby Sheri Elwood, who is also the series Showrunner, Call Me Fitz is executive produced by Elwood along with Teza Lawrence and Michael Souther of Amaze Film + Television who developed the show with Elwood. John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg are exec producing for eOne, and David MacLeod for Big Motion Pictures. eOne handles worldwide distribution.
