Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

Yes, I was disappointed about the cancellation. I hate being left hanging.
Please please continue another season!!!!
This is irresponsible and wrong and exactly why I have stopped watching tv altogether.
Would love to see it continue
Why the HELL DO YOU LEAVE THIS ON HULU?
IF I KNEW IT WOULD END LIKE THAT, I NEVER WOULD OF WATCHED IT. HULU SHOUD OF PUT IN RED LETTERS, CAUTION: THERE WILL BE NO ENDING SINCE THR SECOND SEASON WAS CANCELLED IN 2011,,!!!!¡
9 YEARS AGO
I was really looking forward to seeing another season. I struggled finding a good show and now it’s gone…
Nice you get me hooked only to leave me hanging forever apparently!!!
This literally breaks my heart! The writing is absolutely invigorating and brilliant! The cast is incredible with clearly a lot of talent. There is so much potential and could be huge! Please give it a chance at least! Bottom line, money? Or the greatful fans? Because i think you would have both. I see what this show could be like and how many twists and turns you could explore. How about in the future when King Arthur rises from the sea? No one has covered that far and that’s how long this could go. You just need to put this… Read more »
It’s absolutely unforgiving for preventing the production of season 2 for Camelot leaving the viewers hanging with a story incomplete. Certainly isn’t a good decision in the least. Absolutely disappointing!
Aww man that sucks.Just binge watched season 1 if i had done research and known that was it i probably wouldnt have watched it.
It seems that all too often the best shows not of glitz or hype but true substance are cancelled before they have a chance to make a difference. This generation has so much at their fingertips but without guidance and opportunity watching adults playing with children’s toys and caddy women with too much time and money on their hands seem to be their only options.
I just finished watching episode 10, eager to jump into the next session! You can imagine my disappointment, and even sadness that I wasn’t going to get answers, and closure. It was a fun, well acted, good adaptation of King Arthur! .. and they JUST started to build the round table too! No one they’re too uncover all the evil really see Arthur continue to transform from a boy to a man, to a great king! 10 Dressing could be great!
I am a fan of any dramatic series that deals w the “Arthurian” age, or pretty much the medieval age entirely, and although I can not claim that this was among my top 3 it definitely was worth a second season, if for nothing other than rounding out and completing the characters lives and the fate of the kingdom of Camelot. You see, this is one of the BIGGEST mistakes (in my opinion) that a network can make and that is to build up a fan base for a popular show, sell it to us and then rip it out… Read more »
This is ridiculous. What was the point of doing this series in the first place, if you were just going to cancel it. Production challenges could have been worked out, but instead the easy way out was taken, leaving viewers hanging. Disgusting!!!!!
So dissapointed was ready to see the second season I thought first season was good
