The alphabet network has dropped two of its unsuccessful midseason replacement series, Miss Guided and Cashmere Mafia. Based on their ratings, neither comes as much of a surprise.
Miss Guided centers around Becky Freeley (Judy Greer) as she starts working as a guidance counselor at her old high school. The single-camera sitcom debuted in March and ran for seven episodes. The premiere attracted less than 10 million viewers and dropped week after week. The final episode attracted just 4.3 million, ranking fourth in its timeslot. Though the series seemed an obvious choice for cancellation, the sitcom was reportedly being considered for renewal up until earlier today.
Mafia comes from Darren Starr’s production company and was compared with Sex in the City, though usually not kindly. The series focuses on four successful women who support each other in their business careers and personal lives. Critical reaction to the show wasn’t enthusiastic. The premiere attracted a decent 10.7 million viewers but the second episode drew under 6.2 million. The ratings continued to drop and the finale attracted just 4.8 million.
Now that Mafia’s been canned, Lucy Liu is expected to move to Dirty Sexy Money. ABC already renewed Money for season two and it’s expected to return in September. Stay tuned! 
Cashmere mafia was a great show. It didn’t even get to finish its fulls season due to writers strike. If they had of finished episodes it would have given more people a chance to get addicted like I did. I loved the show. Heaps better then lipstick jungle that’s got a second season

I can not believe they got rid of Mafia..i LOVE THAT SHOW..im in college and was getting my friends into it…we loved it, it was a great new show!! it gave us something along with greys to get into …we would watch the show and hope that we could be some version of that in a few years…really upset about it not coming back on…
I don’t know about capitalism, but I do understand that it’s unrealistic to expect 10 mill viewers for EVERY series out there! People get tired watching TV after a while! But that does not in any way imply that Mafia wasn’t a super enormous hit, I know it’s supposed to have been competing with Lipstick Jungle, but I think it focused on the actual issues much better, along with a highly developed sense of style among all the lead characters! Tsk Tsk, what a shame, 7 episodes is truly heinous!
gosh i just can’t believe how cruel ABC is. they don’t even finish this season’s story, it just makes people, including me, furious you know. Oh bring back my gorgeous Mafia would you ?
I loved loved loved Cashmere Mafia! I can’t believe they didn’t even finish the season, I was soooo mad when I saw Men in trees in it’s place…..
It’s not so much that both shows stink, but both just had bad timing. Miss Guided had to compete with the Final Four, and Cashmere had to go against CSI/Law & Order. And when the network pumps alot of ad bucks into these programs and doesn’t get a fair ROI, why lose more money? I hardly get to watch TV. between a baby an work its hard to watch anything. I loved this show and loved where it was going. I have been watching and waiting for itsreturn. Do you maybe the writers stick had any effect on people? Please bring it back and allow for one more try. 4 million people loved it. Why isn’t that enough?
4,8mill is approximately the population of Norway, where I live. It seems to me that if nearly 5mill people love a show it’s successful! So many great tv shows get cancelled every year in the US, it’s a disgrace! I guess that’s what happens when Capitalism rules…

That sucks 2 of my Fav show’s again canceled …. I loved Cashere mafia thought it was way better then lipstick jungle and miss guided was a refreshing new comedy that was great to me ! I haven’t watched to many comedy’s lately but I really enjoyed that one.

A fantastic show like this with witty writers and actors.. Canceled? No, please-please, bring back the good and junk the junk. Every Mother and daughter in College and girls at work were sharing episode comments with each other. Please, bring it back..

Too bad about Miss Guided. I thought it was the freshest thing I’d seen since Love Monkey. And garbage like Two and a Half Men is top-rated. I gotta get off this planet…
Please bring back Cashmere Maifia. It was a very interesting show except for the lesbian scenes which were simply forced into the script.
