TV show description:
Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is an incredibly famous mystery novelist who has become bored with his own success. His life starts to get interesting when he learns that a real-world copycat killer has started staging murder scenes based on his novels.
Rick is soon questioned by NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), a very bright and aggressive detective who keeps her investigations under a tight rein. Their styles instantly clash yet sparks begin to fly, leading both to danger and a hint of romance as Rick steps in to help Kate find the killer. Once that case is solved, the author decides to use her as the basis for a new book series.
Rick uses his connections to get permission to accompany Kate while she investigates other cases, much to her frequent irritation. But Kate has a reputation for looking for “freaky” cases so she needs all the help she can get.
Others on her team include Kate’s confidant, Medical Examiner Lanie Parish (Tamala Jones); sardonic Detective Javier Esposito (Jon Huertas); and Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever), a nice guy who’s always ready to offer obscure facts. Captain Roy Montgomery (Ruben Santiago-Hudson) is their boss who makes sure that Kate’s cases go smoothly, in spite of all of the strong personalities involved.
Rick’s mother is Martha Rodgers (Susan Sullivan), a diva and former Broadway actress, who still seeks the spotlight and often ends up getting involved with the police cases. Alexis (Molly Quinn) is Rick’s quick-witted and insightful teenage daughter who keeps her famous dad in line.
Rick and Kate build upon their new relationship as they look to solve strange homicides in New York — as much fun as one can have with death & murder.
Episode #173 — Crossfire
With their best lead in hand, Castle and Beckett are ready to take on LokSat. But an unforeseen twist puts their case – and their lives – in jeopardy.

What do you think? Do you like the Castle TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a ninth season?
Unfortunately this show has gone from a really good idea to a very disappointing one. Remember at the beginning when Beckett and Castle were adversarial toward each other? The sparks flew and the mystery of “would they ever get together” was a constant query Castle had to prove his worth especially to Beckett. Those were excellent episodes but alas, the show has lost its spark by ludicrous plots that are without any real “spice” for the viewing audience Unless this show receives a massive and serious change in the script it will become “history”. Remember the old adage “If it… Read more »
Season 8 of Castle is disappointing, but at least watchable. Castle and Beckett’s separation was a horrible idea. So much that it is starting to make me dislike Beckett a little. And I love her. Castle being a PI and Beckett being captain even severs their work relationship, because they can’t work together. I get tired of seeing Castle run up to a crime scene and Espo and Ryan have to say that he can’t work with them. And Castle is just a wuss now. Beckett is still hurting understandably, but being a complete jerk to Castle nonetheless. I want… Read more »
Castle was always my favor show however this year it is disappointing for me too. I agree the so called separation is silly, bad story line for Beckett, running around in secret and Castle
“trying to get her back” …..the show is definitely off track.
I agree with you in what you have stated. I still watch it in hoping the writers get better with an improved story lines…..if not, the show will not only end but bomb out.
Thank you for your thoughts…..
No problem.
My wife and I have watched this show from the very beginning, it helped me because I was going thru chemo/radiation during the first three years of the show and I always looked forward with my wife to watching what would happen with Castle and Beckett–But alas new writers(suggested by Stana Katic, in order for her to return this season) have damaged this show and without a furious turn-around, I see the lights going out and the director saying CUT!
Not sure where you got the idea that Stana only signed on for a Season 8 if new writers were hired as she became a very peripheral figure for most of the season, even being left out of two episodes altogether. There has always been a turn over of writers throughout the series as they move on to bigger and better things, Will Beall for instance. The suspicion was that S8 was an attempt to wean people off the Beckett character, but clown Castle, supersleuth Alexis and annoying Hayley would have been a poor substitute for the original concept of… Read more »
Need to agree with other comments…this season 8 is disappointing. I’m hopeful that during this 3 week sabbatical, the writers will revamp the direction. Many shows can lose the focus after “the chase” between two characters is over. However, this show could do the following: 1) copy the great show couples: Hart to Hart, Remington Steele 2) Castle had great identity with the private eye angle. This would allow him and Kate to work separately to keep the sparks going! 3) Kate as captain is fine (certainly not a senator) however, she needs to work from the office, not the… Read more »
Not really impressed with the direction that the show is going this season, it is getting way too dark and the story line of the two of them separating because of a black op is nuts. lets get the show back to where it belongs, with Beckett and Castle solving crimes and jousting verbally as they did before. keep up this story line, as it is, and I think that you are going to start dropping ratings.
How was “sir” the previous captain written out of the show then Beckett go the Captain position?
I have watched this show from the very beginning. Its been very good up until this new season. The so called “Writers” colud have had used the “Senator” role for Beckett. This cold have taken the show somewhere other then Beckett leaving Castle. We waited forever for them to get together and now this. I’m not sure if the season is worth watching. My wife agrees, this is a very bad opening season. There is so many other options these “writers” could have gone with.
I’ve watched every episode with my wife. Its a very great show. But I must say this season is looking to be very questionable. I would have like to see the writers bring Becketts role from Captian to running for Senator. I think that’s where the these so called “writers” should take the show. Not this leaving, Castle, and still working as the Captain. I had to stop watching it. Hope thsee “writers” get it together. This was the only show I watched.
We were very disappointed the way this season has begun! Hope this is not how it will be throughout the rest of the season! Very very dark and not cute or loving.
Love to watch this show. Hope its on for many more seasons.
Correction: Networks can’t cater to/just focus on a younger audience.
Should read: Networks can’t just cater to/just focus on a younger audience.
I love this show! Networks can’t cater to/focus on a younger crowd. As a member of the older audience, I think we also have quite strong loyalties to the show and its characters and we are just as invested.
have watched every episode, bought the books and DVDs because there is no other show out there like it but the network focuses on a younger demographic and this show skews older but what is wrong with that? There is such a loyalty and it seems that with the main actors contracts up for renewal it is up in the air and the writers want to find something new so we as fans need to speak up!
Please don’t cancel Castle. Sharpe acting. Great cast and fun interplay with all. Fun trying to figure out the cases. Please Please Please don’t cancel the one show I actually look forward to every week!
This is a great show! It’s funny, offers suspense & mystery, entertaining, great actors. I don’t understand why the opinions of those over 49 don’t seem to be considered much when it comes to keeping good shows on the air. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL!!
Episode 15, talk about heart failure, someone call 911 but she is ok, Earl
