Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I watched it for the first time in 2015 and was looking forward to the fourth season. What a disappointment to read there will not be a fourth. Hope you reconsider.
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS ON HALLMARK! CEDAR COVE IS LIKE NO OTHER SHOW! ! LISTEN TO THE VIEWERS AND KEEP IT ON!
PLEASE , DO NOT CANCEL ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS ON HALLMARK!!
CEDAR COVE, is like no other show on t.v. its so special! Listen to your viewers! We want it on!
it was a true highlight of my tv watching, and I do not watch a lot of tv…VERY DISAPPOINTED, especially seeing as there were a lot of unresolved cliffhangers and issues. Been a long time where I genuinely took an interest in television…I will sorely miss this show…PLEASE BRING IT BACK…not everything we watch has to be CSI type tv…there can be “feel good” television as well….
Loved this show! Very disappointed in Hallmark for cancelling. The very least you could do was answer all the unanswered questions. I think part of the decline in viewers was allowing so much time between seasons. Would love to see it back or at least a final episode /movie answering all the unanswered questions.
Man….my wife and I were so looking forward to seeing the show return. There is so much crap on TV these days. This was truly something nice and enjoyable to watch. Gosh sure would hope there is some way to bring it back
I agree Frank…been a really long time since there has been a genuine “feel good” show….I am sooo disappointed…I really hope they do see a way to bring it back.
This is very disappointing news! I have been anxiously awaiting the debut of season 4. This is the only series that I truly did not want to miss, even going to the point of purchasing episodes that I had failed to DVR. Please consider bringing this series back for at least another season to tie up the story lines!
I am so disgusted! This is my favorite show on tv! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!
I loved Cedar Cove and I am so disappointed that it has been cancelled. There are not enough wholesome family shows on TV these days and Cedar Cove was one of them! I will miss it.
Very disappointed – I was looking forward to the return of Cedar Cove. I think they should give a finale series! This will make you not want to watch a series program on Hallmark.
I love this show; and, so does my husband. We looked forward to season 4. Please bring it back!
I loved this show and looked forward to it every week. You left us with unanswered questions. Please give us a 2-hour series finale. Like someone else said, it is disrespectful to leave us followers with nothing.
Hey, at least give us a follow-up finale. We deserve a 2 hour special. Giving everyone an ending. Just leaving it in the air is disrespectful to your faithful followers.
I love Cedar Cove. Each cast member & story line is exciting. The writers keep you anxious to see what’s going to happen next. That is a mark of a superior show. Please keep it going for its many supportive fans.
I think that is terrible. We commit ourselves to watching it on a regular basis and enjoy it, and then Hallmark does this??? It’s not right. If they wanted to end it, they should have written the story line to incorporate the ending of the story. They could have at least filed a few more episodes and put an ending to it before cancelling. I will have to think about whether or not I start watching any other series programs from Hallmark, as this could happen again. What a waste of time.
