Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

We may be age-specific, but I can say there was a huge following! How terribly sad that a series filled with dignity and integrity which showed the many difficult episodes of everyday life and it’s traumatic issues would be so I’ll-respected.
So sad to find Cedar Cove cancelled.. I liked forward to that on Saturday night. Can you please wrap up all the loose ends and do a follow up season.
I’m so mad to find out the show was canceled. I’ve actually been waiting all year long for it to come back home. I just now found out that it isn’t. They should do at least one more show to bring it all to a close.
Sad that the show is now only a memory. It portrayed such civility and cortesty–characteristic in short supply in this venomous election year. It was nice to be reminded of a more refined and compassionate time.
What a huge bummer – First Heartland now CedarCove, I will be canceling my subscription to Hallmark!!!
What a shame! One of the few shows we look forward to watching each summer. So sad
I think it was a mistake not to tie up all the loose ends of continuing stories. This could be remedied be a final 2-hour movie. Has that been considered at all?
Please don’t cancel and leave everyone in limbo! I can’t believe you, Hallmark everyone is begging for you to keep it on why in the world would you even think about canceling a good wholesome program?
Don’t cancel the show. I loved it.
PLEASE reconsider and bring back season 4! We need a little yesteryear! It is awesome, wholesome, silly and yes,at times, unrealsitic. But that is what makes it magical! These towns still do exist in America-I have lived in them. Need to see what happens to Olivia and Jack .Don’t leave us hanging!
I am really disappointed that Cedar Cove was cancelled. It was one of the few shows on television that actually had some moral values.
I think this is extremely bad news, I was so looking forward to season 4, the cliff hanger of season 3 just left us all wondering.
I wish that they would have concluded the series before cancelling the series. I am sorry it was cancelled I enjoyed the series very much.
This is SO sad! I was really looking forward to the show returning and to find out that they cancelled it, is disappointing! I really hope that this decision is reconsidered soon. ☹️
So sad to learn that Cedar Cove will not be returning for a 4th season. Sad that we will not learn if Olivia and Jack would work through their relationship issues as well as all of the other Cedar Cove residents.
