Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

SO DISAPPOINTED! Such a great series. I am so sad to not see this series all the way through. You leave us hanging. The books were fantastic the program so beautiful. PLEASE RECONSIDER! HUGE LOSS!
I totally agree with Peggie and others with whose opinion I agree – this was the only show that my wife and I looked forward to seeing each week….
really bad to cut off in the middle
Come on Hallmark, get rid of all those sad repeat shows and please give us some more Cedar Cove.
We have been waiting for Cedar Cove to start it’s Season 4 and decided to check online. I can’t believe you cancelled this show, we just discovered it this past year and watched the previous two years online to catch up with the story. My Mother and I watch it together, we love this show and all the characters. Sooooooo disappointed that Hallmark cancelled this show, you really should reconsider this decision and then make it well advertised, maybe then you would see its rating go up.
Please return the show. It was nice in these days and times to have a more wholesome show.
I have been waiting patiently for the return of season 4 wondering why it lists season 4 in Amazon Video when you search it but no season 4 to be found. I agree that it is a mistake to cancel the show with such a large fan population. Maybe there are extenuating circumstances but I too am very disappointed to learn this news.
I am so disappointed that the show has been canceled. This was one of the few shows I followed. Please consider wrapping up the stories.
We just had our cable boxes replaced, i.e. our recording requests were gone, and my husband reminded me to put Cedar Cove in the queue. Honestly, you should have at least completed a few episodes (half of an already short season) or a movie to wrap up the story line after three years – if just one year in I can understand not doing this. Disappointed but we will survive, although will have to think twice about watching another Hallmark original series!
Please reconsider your decision to cancel Cedar Cove. There are so few decent programs on TV. I looked forward to Saturday nights because I could sit and enjoy a great show.
I loved Cedar Cove, and am truly disappointed to learn it has been canceled. Please reconsider.
So disappointed that Cedar cove was cancelled -loved the show and all the characters.
Cedar Cove was the best show series that Hallmark had. It is always the best shows that get cancelled. VERY DISAPPOINTED
Huge mistake! My husband and I enjoyed every episode.
It is the BEST show on Hallmark. Instead you keep all the other crap that you show that no one watches!!!! I’m sick!!
