Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Hallmark has never responded, nor have there been any leaked info, so it appears the cancel was the result of Andie M not renewing her contract (she was already filming a ABC pilot 3/16). I just wish they had written her and Jack out saying they moved to Seattle for his job; and than all the other characters could have continued (including some just developing). That can still happen Hallmark if you stop disrespecting your viewers.
I am so disappointed. I have been looking forward to another season. What a shame that it has been cancelled. What a terrible mistake Hallmark has made!!!!
Was looking forward to season 4 but so sad to find it has been cancelled. I think the show would have gained/held more viewers had it run in the fall instead of summer. Dissappointed it will not be returning or wrapped up. Would love to see it return or a movie to wrap it up.
Please consider renewing Cedar Cove. This show provided good messages and lost values. Thank you for the three seasons wonderful seasons of Cedar Cove, but I would love a fourth even if it just gives the fans closure!
Reading all of the comments, and could not agree more! Have been waiting for the new season to start so I went online to see when the start date was. Could not believe that you had cancelled the series. You need to bring this one back or at the very least have a movie that will give us closure.
It is difficult to believe that the time when constructive, entertaining drama where conflicts are settled by reason and love and life is celebrated, appears to now be passing into history. I first stumbled upon Cedar Cove while searching for something other than the endless number of zombie and vampire shows, grotesque crime and other mindless action shows that do not inspire, educate nor actually entertain. They are especially odious for young, impressionable audiences who now grow up watching murder and violence in response to any problem. By the time they are teenagers, they have seen tens of thousands of… Read more »
I am extremely upset to hear this! My husband and I watched every episode and looked so forward to the new season beginning. We hate that there is no good T.V. shows anymore. We paid extra for our service to insure we got Hallmark for both their movies and Cedar cove. Such sad news.
Cedar Cove is such a heart-warning show and it’s the reason why I enjoy very much watching it. Please return the show again!
So disappointed that Cedar Cove was cancelled. Will there be a Hallmark movie or something else to tell fans how the story ends? Unacceptable that it was abruptly cancelled without tying up loose ends…
I had been wondering when Cedar Cove was going to be back on TV and decided to check online. SO VERY DISAPPOINTED that it has been cancelled. I think part of the problem with the ratings going down was that it wasn’t publicized that much when it would be back on each season. I also feel the time between seasons was too long. I’m sure some people that it had already been cancelled because it was so long in between seasons. I wish you would reconsider and put it back on the air. It was a great show!
I am shocked and very disappointed! I loved Cedar Cove and was looking forward to another wonderful season. Hallmark, you made a big mistake by cancelling the series. I hope someone has a change of heart and brings the show back or maybe better yet, anther network picks it up.
I loved Cedar Cove as I’m sure many others did &I can’t believe you are cancelling the series. It is the best of all the series Hallmark has done &to cancel it without any final episodes at least is really uncaring &terrible to its many viewers. I hope you will reconsider as it doesn’t make any sense. I watch Hallmark all the time but I am very upset at your decision to cancel such a great show with such a great cast.
I enjoyed Cedar Cove more than words can say . . I also agree the lose ends should have been taken care of . Will miss the series very much . Bring it back !
I loved Cedar Cove, I will miss it, I am about to leave cable. All good shows are being cancelled for realty tv, so boring
Loved the show, so sorry to hear it is not coming back.
