Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I loved that show so much. My daughter and I watched every episode and could hardly wait until the next week for the next one. I really am sorry that it is not coming back on.
Very disappointed that it is not coming back on!
I am really sad that this wonderful series is not going to continue. For once a clean, uplifting series with beautiful scenery and love all the characters.
When you think of all the media shows, movies etc. there are out there. I think if you are pulling over a million viewers especially not on a first run channel you are doing really well. Are you telling me something better will replace it?????
Very disappointed. It should have been given more of a chance of people getting around to viewing it.
I am devastated that my favorite show “Cedar Cove” will not be returning for another season. I have been a loyal fan from the beginning and now I’m kinda mad. Bring back my Cedar Cove!
I can’t stand it when a network cancels a show with SO MANY things in the air. Typical I get into a show and the network screws it up – why I keep watching is beyond me. I would definitely vote for a wrap up special at the very least.
I just finished watching the 3rd series on Netflix. And to have such a cliff hanger ending it!!! OMG! I want to know what happens to Paul and Olivia, to Jack and Olivia, and to Justine and whoever she ends up with. Also, want to know what happens to snarky Warren and everyone he becomes involved with. It was always such a surprise to see Debbie pop up every now and then for a cute comment. I’m going to miss this series. 🙁
We moved a few months back and just got cable booked up again. If been waiting and waiting for the show to come back. Truely disappointed to find out there won’t be a season 4. I would get lost in it when it’s watch. Why did it get cancelled? Is there any hope of continuing?
I have read all the Cedar Cove books and the tv show was not like the books. I stopped watching it because of all the differences. Believe me the books are much better then the show.
I really loved the world of Cedar Cove. Hope they can do a special to wrap things up
It would be nice to do a movie to wrap up everything. I really loved the world of Cedar Cove
I am heart broken that Hallmark has decided to cancel Cedar Cove. I have read all the books so it’s not that I don’t know what happens but the fact that the show followed the books so well and the it just brought the characters all to life. I would LOVE for them to bring it back. Absolutely one of my FAVORITE shows on Hallmark. Please rethink this! There are so many fans.
Oh no. I am sooo sad. You must do something to give us some closure. My husband just asked me when cedar cove was coming back and I found this article. We are so disappointed. We’ve been looking forward to it all year.
I think it was the right decision. I found the characters to be plastic and the dialogue too repetitive. I also tire of revolving door and on-again, off-again relationships. The characters just seemed juvenile after a while.
I loved Cedar Cove. Why should we even start watching any tv series because all the stations do is cancel them.
It’s amazing Cedar Cove lasted as long as it did because network marketers can care less about the female over 40 audience.
If that was the only criteria than Good Witch and Where Calls The Heart would be gone too as neither does materially better with the younger demographic. So strongly suspect it came down to Hallmark not wanting to pay Andie M’s salary an/or her not wanting to stay.
I didn’t realize Cedar Cove had been cancelled until today. Hallmark – please bring it back! I loved that series! If Andie McDowell doesn’t want to stay with the show, at least allow the others to have a spin-off.
