Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Why is it an entertaining family show gets axed while garbage continues to air. At the least there should be a concluding show to provide a wrap up for three seasons of loyal fans. Does your polling take into consideration DVR’d programing and Programing on NETFLIX?
I wish w could have another season to wrap up all the drama and questions. They are like family all twisting in the wind like this…
I was looking forward to another season. I am disappointed I really enjoyed it.I really hope they bring out back
We enjoyed Cedar Cove and are really disappointed it won’t fill our summer evenings this year. Unfortunate decision, Hallmark.
So disappointed. Was looking forward to the return of Cedar Cove. My summer just got bummed.
I’m as upset as all of the others that have commented on here about Cedar Cove being cancelled. If you think that Chesapeake Shores will be a good replacement, I got think you are mistaken. Even though I like Jesse Metcalfe, I don’t think I can bring myself to watch it since it will most likely be in the same timeslot that Cedar Cove was in. That may seem crazy to some people but that’s how I feel.
I loved Cedar Cove. I actually started watching it on Netflix because AT&T had discontinued the Hallmark channel for a while. I was so excited when they brought the channel back and I was looking forward to season 4. Netflix just got season 3 so I’m currently glued to the episodes.
Favorite scene is when Paul tells Olivia how he feels. He’s overwhelmed with emotion telling her. Then he just sits down next to her–putting himself right next to her! It is truly a moving moment.
Enjoyed Cedar Cove for the beautiful scenery. Season 1 was almost unbearable to watch because of the poor acting and direction. It seemed as if you could hear the director say, “Andie, don’t turn too far away from the camera because we want to see your beautiful face!” Andie M. Is gorgeous but help/let her act, not just pose for the cameras with Jack (he is not a very good actor either). They were so stiff, I had too look away. The scenery of Washington State is breathtaking. Loved Olivia’s house. Moon was always terrific! Grace too. I agree that… Read more »
You hit on exactly what I felt with season 3. The new character plot lines were the shot in the arm the series desperately needed. The chemistry between Olivia and Paul was so much more interesting then anything I’d seen between Olivia and Jack. I really wanted to see that go somewhere. There was so much to work with in season 3 for either additional episodes to tie everything up at least or for even another season. If they wanted to end it, they only needed maybe six more episodes to satisfy the fans with some closure. To just cancel… Read more »
Totally spot on! The show has continually gotten better. Shame on Hallmark and Netflix.
Would like to see Cedar Cove return to answer all the questions left unanswered. Watched all the shows. Loved it.
Just found out yesterday that Season 3 is the last season for Cedar Cove so I binge watched it today. I can’t say I don’t understand why it was canceled with the decreasing audience each season. And the show certainly had its problems with repetitive story lines and not seeming to go anywhere. But what I really don’t like is how the series ended. That was really shabby of Hallmark not to at least give the final season a decent ending for the series. It would have only taken a few more episodes to give it a more complete feeling.… Read more »
This is so sad ,,it was a very nice clean show …was waiting to see at least one more season …Hallmark change your mind and bring it back
My family LOVED this show! Refreshing, lighthearted, and so well scripted vs. reality TV. It gave us much to look forward to whereas it halted channel surfing trying to find anything worth watching. We all are SO disappointed with Hallmark’s decision. Please please please bring it back.
Awe….come on! Bring it back! I kept up with the series from the beginning. Why, why do all the good shows always have to be cancelled. How could you leave your viewers in limbo?
I am so disappointed! This was such an engaging cast, plot, and setting! I WANT ANOTHER SEASON that brings some conclusion to things.
Thank you for three great seasons!
