Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I STRONGLY agree! You said it!
Very disappointed in Hallmarks decision to cancel Cedar Cove! I looked forward to that show every season. Not everyone wants to watch shows like NCIS .
I was so disappointed tonight when I realized I had just watched the very last show. I have fallen in love with this Cedar Cove. It’s very refreshing to finally find something on TV that is worth watching. So many unanswered questions…. What about a 2 hour show to wrap it all up? Your viewers need closure!!!
Hey – that is an awesome idea!!! Hallmark Channel you listening/?!!
I can’t believe this! I absolutely love this show! I’ve been waiting to see what happens between Olivia and Paul! I can’t believe they’re just going to leave us hanging! It’s so hard to find good television these days (no nudity, no foul language) and its so frustrating when a good show gets cancelled. BRING IT BACK! PLEASE!
It’s a shame that this show was canceled. Hallmark should have at least given a fourth season to complete the characters’ story lines, as well as giving the viewers closure. Another excellent show gone.
YES! Give us closure at least!!!!!!!
I am so saddened to read that Cedar Cove is cancelled. I waited so long to see season 3 on Netflix. These are such heartwarming characters that I will truly miss! Every time I watched it made me want to live there with the cast. That has to be the most beautiful setting ever! Made me believe it is still possible to have a good town with good people. So sad! I wish they could reconsider!
I just did a ceder cove merethon for season 3 I love the show that much, I was in awe over the last episode and extremely extremely disappointed when I read that it was canceled. It’s such a shame that the TV today is filled with such garbage and then a great show comes along and doesn’t make it, please reconsider and bring this show back for those of us that love a great show that is a non sexual, non violent, and no bad language.
I think Cedar Cove should continue! In this world of Reality TV we need more heart warming, feel good shows to balance out all the crime and no substance type shows. I am so bummed out!!
Every time a good show comes on, it is canceled! I am so tired of police shows! This was a series that many women looked forward to, please bring it back!
This was one of the best series created. This is a total bummer
Cedar Cove was a fun and heartwarming show, just like Signed, Sealed and Delivered. If Hallmark won’t keep the series (which is so disappointing), couldn’t they at least make some two hour movies to answer the unanswered questions season three left us with?
Why is Hallmark cancelling these quality shows?
Was really looking forward to another season!!!!!
I would pay by the episode to see more seasons of Cedar Cove!
I would gladly raise money with other fans to bring it back!!!!!
I had to wait for it to come on Netflix, but this was the best show ever. I guess if a show isn’t ugly, bloody, and crude it just doesn’t make it any more. The books were wonderful, but it was so beautiful to see the stories told in this gorgeous setting. The characters were warm and it was nice to watch a wholesome show in a time when it’s no longer cool to be kind, caring, and uplifting. It’s too bad the only shows the “public” supports are those that are gross, bloody, and ugly.
pLEASE BRING THE SHOW BACK, WHY WOULD SHCH A GREAT SHOW BE CANCELLED, OTHER GARBAGE STAYS ON , WHILE THE GOOD GUYS ARE SENT AWAY. PLEASE PLEASE BRING CEDAR COVE BACK.I Please type here to add a comment. (Note: spam, name-calling, and personal attack comments will be deleted.)
I loved Cedar Cove and am very disappointed that Hallmark chose not to bring it back. There aren’t enough good family shows.
