Unlike most other NBC TV shows that aired last season, the viewership ratings for Chicago Fire were actually up year to year. Could they continue to rise or, will they fall? Could this series be in danger of being cancelled or is it sure to be renewed for a sixth season? Stay tuned.
Chicago Fire follows the lives and work of the firefighters, Rescue Squad, and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51. No occupation is more stressful or dangerous, yet so rewarding and exhilarating. These courageous men and women forge headfirst into danger when everyone else is running the other way. The TV show’s cast includes Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Monica Raymund, Eamonn Walker, David Eigenberg, Joe Minso, Yuri Sardarov, Christian Stolte, Kara Killmer, and Steven R. McQueen.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/10 update: NBC has renewed Chicago Fire for a sixth season. Details here.
5/17 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fourth season of Chicago Fire averaged a 1.75 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.01 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Chicago Fire TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a sixth season on NBC?
I think the show is totally captivating. The cast meshes so well. The writers/directors know when a character isn’t working and end their story line. It’s one of the reasons I like this show so much. My only complaint is when bureaucracy gets in the way. I like some of the sideline personal dramas, but the best part is the excitement of all the rescues.
I would be heartbroken if this show were to be cancelled. I watch all of the Chicago shows. Great casts. Please do not ever cancel any of these shows.
It would be an interesting comparison of the ratings each time the episode leaves the firehouse. I realize that this show must have some soap opera elements but the main draw is fighting fires and rescuing people. Stick with the gal you brung to the dance!
Listen do not cancel the series that show is one of the best series along with the other Chicago series you have got something good here don’t kill it I have seen a lot of series come and go but this one hits home with the real drama
I needs to be renewed it has great story line and anyone that knows the fire and EMS aspect of this know its a lot of real life situation including in house dating. It has a very large follow base in the PA area and would be a shame to see it go. Not many fire related shows last and not only that but not are as close to reality as this one. THE SHOW NEEDS TO BE RENEWED AND GO ALL YEAR LONG NO BREAKS lol.
I love all the Chicago series! Love law and order SUV too.
I watch all of the Chicago shows. Fire, PD, Med and now Justice. I look forward to these shows every week and if they are not on, I watch reruns on Hulu. I agree with Bryan that these shows not only deserve another season, but many more.
Chicago Fire is the one show of the week that I never want to miss. My sincere hope is that it continues for not just a season six, but for many more.
This series should be renewed, this is still a very good show and needs to be renewed.
Yes, yes, yes- renew
I don’t have cable so I watch all my shows on Hulu or Amazon. I am waiting for the an older season so I can catch up.
Honestly, this is the best show ever. I love it and have been watching it since season one. I just hope it keeps getting renewed because its my favorite. I also enjoy there is the other shows that correspond to this one.
Honestly this show makes me want to run laps because I am so in love with it. After running those laps, I’ll be sad because that’s more time I could have been watching. I love this show so much and don’t know what I’ll do if it is cancelled. Save Fire!!
S5 has been a bit redundant, I love all the Chicago Series (especially PD), but after 5 seasons it’s time to spice it up a bit.
I like this show! Keep it coming, please.
