Last season, the Code Black TV show started off with mediocre ratings and the numbers plunged in week two. It looked like the series would be cancelled but other CBS shows did even worse so Code Black was renewed for a second season — with some behind-the-scene changes. Will the ratings improve? Will there be a third season renewal? Stay tuned.
Code Black takes place in an Emergency Room in Los Angeles — the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation. The staggering influx of patients often outweighs the limited resources available to the devoted doctors and nurses who work there, creating a condition known as Code Black. In season two, the cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Rob Lowe, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Harry Ford, Luis Guzman, Melanie Chandra, William Allen Young, Boris Kodjoe, and Jillian Murray.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Code Black averaged a 1.27 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.11 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Code Black TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season three on CBS?
5/14 update: CBS has renewed Code Black for a third season. Details here.
I absolutely love this Code Black, I haven’t missed an episode yet. Please keep it up for another season if not more!!!!
I absolutely love this show please don’t cancel…..Love the casts!
Keep this show. Keep Jesse. He is the whole show.
I thoroughly enjoy Code Black. Having been a critical care nurse for the majority of my career, it is a show that is near & dear to my heart. “ER” had its humble beginnings, and surged in the ratings. Code Black has a superb cast & great story lines. Please give SERIOUS consideration for continuing this terrific medical drama!!o
I love love this show! I hope it comes back for a third season, I also hope that Jesse comes back too!
Code Black is my favorite show!!!! Please continue. This cast is so great. Please..season 3!!!!
I love this show. Please bring it back for another season!
The show is fantastic and Rob Lowe is phenomenal! I was never a Rob Lowe fan one way or the other but he brings so much to the show. Him & ms Harding are great together! The whole cast is awesome! I don’t watch any tv shows on a regular basis except this one! Yes please on season 3
Please don’t cancel the show, this show has so much to offer. RENEW!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
RENEW RENEW RENEW RENEW
THANKS THANKS THANKS THANKS
Please keep it going. Didn’t ER start off a little slow? And look at the huge success it subsequently became!! I believe that CODE BLACK has that same potential, if not even more so. Having worked for years in a busy ER, I can honestly say this will be one of those medical series that will have one heck of a great future if given half a chance!
Unbelievabley awesome show. It is exciting and more real than some of the new shows. Please bring SEASON 3 And more.
Boost in viewership? The show’s live viewership is down 22% from last season. The show isn’t averaging a 1.0 It should be cancelled of it can’t get over a live average rating of a 1.2 It was only renewed last season as part of a package deal. I don’t know what the 22-54 live ratings average is, but if it isn’t over a 1.2, CBS made a stupid decision.
It really comes down to time slot. For example when the tv show Stalker aired, it was during the same time as Law & Order SVU. Right there you’re cutting down viewership as audiences are forced to chose between the two shows. I love this show but it needs to be moved to a time slot that isn’t competing against any of my Chicago Med/Fire/PD series that I love watching. Don’t even think about it airing at the same time as the Walking Desd either. Air it at the same time as cheesy shows that people like myself have no… Read more »

I’m so glad the Code Black November 9 2016 episode gained a boost in viewership. I will always hold NBC’s St. Elsewhere in very high regard, and CBS’s Code Black is way up there with it. Interestingly, Code Black (like St. Elsewhere) maintains an exceptionally loyal audience, and deservedly so. Ratings-wise, St. Elsewhere limped along for six seasons before cancellation, but it is still being talked about today as one of television’s best ever dramas. I see Code Black in the same light, and hope that CBS can do everything in their power to give it a third season for… Read more »
Code Black is a very good show. I watch it every week. Please don’t cancel.
