Last season, the Code Black TV show started off with mediocre ratings and the numbers plunged in week two. It looked like the series would be cancelled but other CBS shows did even worse so Code Black was renewed for a second season — with some behind-the-scene changes. Will the ratings improve? Will there be a third season renewal? Stay tuned.
Code Black takes place in an Emergency Room in Los Angeles — the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation. The staggering influx of patients often outweighs the limited resources available to the devoted doctors and nurses who work there, creating a condition known as Code Black. In season two, the cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Rob Lowe, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Harry Ford, Luis Guzman, Melanie Chandra, William Allen Young, Boris Kodjoe, and Jillian Murray.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Code Black averaged a 1.27 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.11 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.

Code black is THE BEST show on TV and the best medical drama since ER and Chicago Hope in the 1990’s. It brings me to tears just about every week. And it’s even better this year!!! Please everyone start watching, you won’t be disappointed.
Code black is my favorite show. I have watched every episode since season one and was so excited when season two finally came out. I will continue to watch as many of my friends will also. we all love this show and would love to see more and more seasons.
The more complex the show, the longer time it takes to establish characters. The fact that people think in snipetts doesn’t mean that shows need to be in snipetts. There is a segment of the population that think in more than snipetts and appreciate more complex television. Consider Newsroom, the absolute best program written in the last 5 years. Great writing to make great television takes time and not snipetts. Give the program a chance. I know I am in the minority, having an IQ greater than 37, and enjoy good television, but I think there are more of “me”… Read more »
