The struggle (and story) of the Bowman family ends tonight. The Colony TV show has been cancelled after three seasons but, would you have watched more episodes and a fourth season? Should it have been dropped?
A USA Network sci-fi drama, Colony stars Josh Holloway, Sarah Wayne Callies, Tory Kittles, Peter Jacobson, and Alex Neustaedter. The story unfolds in the near-future, in a world where citizens are under military occupation by the Colony Transitional Authority, as part of a large extraterrestrial invasion. Former FBI agent Will Bowman (Holloway) and wife Katie (Callies) were raising their daughter and two sons in Los Angeles, but were separated from the younger boy during the invasion and did everything they could to get him back. The third season kicked off six months after the season two finale, with Will and Katie rebuilding their family in the world beyond the walls. They begin a journey during which they uncover the truth behind the occupation. Once again, this family finds themselves having to choose sides.
The show debuted in January 2016 and got off to a positive start with a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.36 million viewers. The series lost some steam over the course of the season. The first year averaged a 0.38 rating with 1.13 million and it was renewed for a second season.
Season two of Colony launched in January 2017 and the 13 episodes ended up averaging a 0.26 demo rating with 814,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that was down by 31% in the demo and 28% in viewership. Still, Colony was renewed for a third year even before the season two finale aired.
USA didn’t start running season three until May 2018. Thus far, the third season has averaged a 0.17 demo rating with 672,000 viewers. Compared to last year, that’s down by 36% and 18%, respectively.
Colony is currently one of USA Network’s lower-rated scripted series but, other shows aren’t doing that much better. While it’s not a complete surprise that USA cancelled Colony, they could have easily renewed it to wrap up the story with a final season. Unfortunately, they opted to end the series after three seasons and 36 episodes.

I did not find out Colony was cancelled until I started watching the final episode. I am tired of networks cancelling shows without endings. Colony, Lucifer, The Crossing, Dark Matter, etc. I have decided I will not watch ANY new shows on TV anymore that have a continuing story. I will go back to reading books. Networks advertise their shows as to how “great” they are then just shut them down after we get suckered in. No more.
USA should have renewed The Colony for another a 4th Season. I hope Netflix picks the series up.
I think it is time to STOP watching any of the networks. It seems one show after another gets cancelled. That would be OK if there was an “ending”, but to end a series with a cliffhanger is just wrong. I am tired of it and do not intend to watch ANY of the new shows this fall on ANY network.
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe Colony is cancelled!! What a great show! At least they should have made a better ending if they were cancelling it. TV networks always do this and it makes me so mad!!!

I hate when the cancel shows like this, ya wait around all year for them an then boom canceled. (So sick of game shows an fake reality shows.) Colony was one of my favorites along with the crossing

PLEASE: Another season
I do not think USA should have cancelled Colony. This last episode left viewers hanging. This to me was the best show and I looked forward to it every week. Please renew Colony for a 4th season USA Network! Please! We need a better ending than what you left us with. Thank you.
I’m of the mind to not watch anymore shows on USA. I mean what’s the point of getting involved in one of their storylines since all they do is cancel quality shows?? #86USA
I’ve already stopped watching the USA channel. I won’t watch any future series. I didn’t like this network that much anyway.
I can’t believe they cancelled COLONY!!! It was a great show that should’ve been given the opportunity to tie up loose ends. Hopefully, Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon will pick it up for season 4. We should pressure one of the streaming channels to pick it up ala The Killing.
My dad and I watched this show together and were both extremely upset because it’s really great and different and everyone loves alternate reality post apocalyptic everything. if no ones watching it, and all the rest of their shows don’t have high viewership, it’s because no one watches USA and that’s their fault. Super messed up.

Cancelling this show was so premature. I liked where season 3 was heading more than the first two. Then all of a sudden the family is split with absolutely no closure. Shame on you USA. Your network has forever lost a subscriber. You might as well just let the middle hit the city. Retarded.
This is Bull, they should at least have finished the dang plot line. Lost made absolutely no sense and people watched that crap all the way to the miserable end. Who’s the producer I’ll email that sucker everyday for a year. Crap!
