Continuum wrapped its fourth and final season on SyFy on Friday night. The series, which starred Rachel Nichols, was cancelled by the network back in December. However, it was given a short six-episode fourth season to wrap its storyline.
Even though the series has come to a close, Simon Barry is not ready to leave the series completely behind. In an interview with TV Goodness, Barry revealed that the abbreviated season forced him to cut part of the story he wanted to share out. He knew the end game he wanted, but he was forced to take a more direct route to get there because of the six-episode limit.
However, he is willing to share that backstory via other formats – whether it be another series, a novel, a graphic novel, or some other medium.
“We did have a plan to show the Traveler’s story and branch out and tell his story in much more detail and [explore] how his journey connected to the larger Continuum mythology. Unfortunately, the time to play that out just wasn’t available to us in the last season, so we had to shortcut it and see what we could use as opposed to building a backstory [that would take up] real estate we needed for our main characters. Hopefully, there will be an opportunity to tell some of the story of the Continuum universe in other formats, whether that’s a novel or graphic novel or other forms of storytelling that haven’t been invented yet. I think at a certain point other components will get their due, but we couldn’t squeeze it into our last six episodes. I would have loved to, but there wasn’t time.”
Barry is definitely willing to continue the story of Continuum if there is an interest. No one has approached him yet though.
This is not the only mention Barry has made about a future Continuum project. He also teased the possibility of a film in a video shared on Facebook.

Loved it, loved the characters. Bring it back.
Bring it back…one of the best series I’ve ever seen.
I loved that show it was great one of their best shows bring it back
i miss continuum it was the best syfy ever please bring it back
This show was addicting. The humanity and shared passion of the characters was put together well. Every actor showed realistic scenes that sucked me in. I brag about this show. If a movie comes of it I hope the same actors are there!
I would have liked to have seen this show continue as it had a different take on time travel and mythology. I hope a movie gets made, sometimes this leads to an uptake in interest for the show to get another lease on life. I also totally agree on how networks cancel shows and leave you hanging. Its good they at least allowed this one to be completed.
I loved the series could of watched more I’m just glad even though the show was cancelled they wrapped it up in season 4 hate it when these big TV company’s cancel a show and leave it on a cliffhanger they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it NBC got to be the worse for it.
i really want this show to start again, i will pay alot of money if that were to happen. Its been the most amazing show and i am deeply moved by the idea, story and characters. It would be so amazing if they could rally the team and continue with a spin off or carry on from where they left off.
Well, first, Simon Barry would have to ask me because I’m g.t. get married with Kiera!!! (In my dreams heheh)…
I really loved this series. It was excellent and left me a deep nostalgic sense. I’d love to see a new season or a movie!. This series, V The Visitors, Sliders and Space 1999 have been my favorite series since kid!!!!

Don’t make the Firefly mistake! More Continuum.
Yes. Please renew Continuum. 4 seasons was not enough.
yes more lots of more plz don’t stop i feel empty without it
The fourth season looks and feels very different. I think the cast will be utilized in another project that is valid. I recommend having a more gray shot look like seasons 1-3. tarotworldtour.wordpress.com
Yes absolutely. Watching the series on Netflix and it’s just too good not to continue. It’s fascinating, with complex characters and storylines.
