Continuum wrapped its fourth and final season on SyFy on Friday night. The series, which starred Rachel Nichols, was cancelled by the network back in December. However, it was given a short six-episode fourth season to wrap its storyline.
Even though the series has come to a close, Simon Barry is not ready to leave the series completely behind. In an interview with TV Goodness, Barry revealed that the abbreviated season forced him to cut part of the story he wanted to share out. He knew the end game he wanted, but he was forced to take a more direct route to get there because of the six-episode limit.
However, he is willing to share that backstory via other formats – whether it be another series, a novel, a graphic novel, or some other medium.
“We did have a plan to show the Traveler’s story and branch out and tell his story in much more detail and [explore] how his journey connected to the larger Continuum mythology. Unfortunately, the time to play that out just wasn’t available to us in the last season, so we had to shortcut it and see what we could use as opposed to building a backstory [that would take up] real estate we needed for our main characters. Hopefully, there will be an opportunity to tell some of the story of the Continuum universe in other formats, whether that’s a novel or graphic novel or other forms of storytelling that haven’t been invented yet. I think at a certain point other components will get their due, but we couldn’t squeeze it into our last six episodes. I would have loved to, but there wasn’t time.”
Barry is definitely willing to continue the story of Continuum if there is an interest. No one has approached him yet though.
This is not the only mention Barry has made about a future Continuum project. He also teased the possibility of a film in a video shared on Facebook.

This series and its characters were cut too short. And the ending was definitely not the end. Please make a movie, or figure out a way that we can see, feel and hear the original full vision that Simon Barry was given, and created. I’m not sure why this show was cancelled, because so many people really loved it- it’s brilliant! But something must be done. This is the best show I’ve ever watched, and that says a lot- as I do not even entertain 98% of what’s on television, cable or in the movies. They’re just not worth it.… Read more »
Really nice show. excellent story and cast..
April 2017 and I still miss that show! All the best ones seem to close too early. There is a little recognized following for such Sci-Fi stories that is completely independent of Star Trek.
Show is awesome. Would love to see more
Just finished S3. Looking forward to S4. Please continue the Continuum…
Just finished Season 3. Looking forward to watching S4. Please continue the Continuum…
I did not watch Continuum when it originally aired but just finished the series on Netflix. I was crazy disappointed to see it end. It quickly became o e of my very favorite shows. I really, really hope to see it return. The story and the characters were intriguing and so real, almost made you believe time travel could actually happen. Bring them back, I’m sure I’m not the only fan who would Gobble up any and all we could get.
Yes!!! Yes please! I loved continuum.
I would love to see more of Continuum I thought it was an awesome show it immerses you into a science fiction world that is very entertaining
I just finished the last show. I so want more. I loved it. Please let me know if there’s anything else that develops. Watched it on Netflix. 3-2-17
I really want to see more Continuum. It’s a great show that respects the intelligence of its audience audience and is not afraid of being controversial. I would love to delve into the role of the Traveler as well as tie up other loose ends like what Kellog does, what happens to the other characters back home and what Kiera does in the future. I’m surprised this show isn’t more popular tbh
I definitely want to see more of Continuum as it was originally planned, and any new directions the writer can take us as well.
I would love to see more of anything that has to do with Continuum. There were no shortages of brilliance with the writing and both the development of the storyline and characters.
I would so much like to see the ideas behind the show brought to fruition as possible solutions to what happen to be real problems. Wouldn’t it be something for this to wind up being a road map to real life issues that in the guise of a television project turn out to be how the future truly unfolds! I think that we can use all the help we can get! Thank you for what you’ve done so far and please consider taking it further.
Yes, please. I loved it and I feel there is more to it. They can’t finish it like this as we don’t know what will happen with Kira now as in this time line will be two Kira. She fought for the new future what now she cannot enjoy?
