Continuum wrapped its fourth and final season on SyFy on Friday night. The series, which starred Rachel Nichols, was cancelled by the network back in December. However, it was given a short six-episode fourth season to wrap its storyline.
Even though the series has come to a close, Simon Barry is not ready to leave the series completely behind. In an interview with TV Goodness, Barry revealed that the abbreviated season forced him to cut part of the story he wanted to share out. He knew the end game he wanted, but he was forced to take a more direct route to get there because of the six-episode limit.
However, he is willing to share that backstory via other formats – whether it be another series, a novel, a graphic novel, or some other medium.
“We did have a plan to show the Traveler’s story and branch out and tell his story in much more detail and [explore] how his journey connected to the larger Continuum mythology. Unfortunately, the time to play that out just wasn’t available to us in the last season, so we had to shortcut it and see what we could use as opposed to building a backstory [that would take up] real estate we needed for our main characters. Hopefully, there will be an opportunity to tell some of the story of the Continuum universe in other formats, whether that’s a novel or graphic novel or other forms of storytelling that haven’t been invented yet. I think at a certain point other components will get their due, but we couldn’t squeeze it into our last six episodes. I would have loved to, but there wasn’t time.”
Barry is definitely willing to continue the story of Continuum if there is an interest. No one has approached him yet though.
This is not the only mention Barry has made about a future Continuum project. He also teased the possibility of a film in a video shared on Facebook.
Would you want more of a Continuum? Tell us what you think.
The series was fantastic!!! Great cast! All around ten out of ten stars!!! Bring it back, lots of story to be told!
I would love to see more of this show. It was well developed, great characters and simply great tv programming. Please do your viewers a bid favor and continue with Continuum.
After binge watching the show I would be interested in knowing how the characters left in the past made adjustments and how future Kierra adjusts to the new timeline. So many questions. A book would be fantastic if unable to make a spin off series happen. Great Job Simon! One hell of a story that really wasn’t that far fetched. Bravo!
I agree 100%!!!
Yes I would love there to be more seasons of this one. Well thought out and was always interesting. Was always looking forward to the next episode. Why do all the good shows get cut?
Oh man. Im pissed its over. Loved the show. And the ending was real instead of just another happy ending kaka. It was a great show. Made me think of things a little differently. I loved it. Great show!!!
I loved the show. i would be tickled to death if a new season was made.
Best show ever i loved it, would definitely watch if you came out with another season
Absolutely we want another season!
This is an awesome show that has a little bit of everything, sci fi, crime drama, adventure, and thrill! Too bad for us that rate this show as a 5! We’re the ones who are also sad to see Firefly and the like to leave us wanting more fantastic entertainment! Good job Barry, well done!✔
The problem is that they created yet another paradox with the finale. But instead of resolving it the way they had in other timelines, they just left it up in the air. How is the old Kiera going to live with the new Kiera? NO IDEA. Definitely needs more episodes.
most definitely i want more episodes
I would like to have seen the back stories of the characters
Please make more.
More continum
They need to bring back Continuum it’s an awesome TV show I would rate it right next to Supernatural
Looking back from 2080 the show was excellent
For It’s time
Continuum is better than supernatural because some of the show is based on true events from the CIA. But supernatural is fake
