Conviction is coming to a close. Recently, star Merrin Dungey told TVGuide the low-rated ABC TV series will air an open-ended finale.
The legal drama stars Hayley Atwell as Hayes Morrison, the daughter of a former U.S. president who is “blackmailed” into examining wrongful conviction cases. The cast also includes Eddie Cahill, Shawn Ashmore, Emily Kinney, Manny Montana, and Daniel Franzese.
As we reported earlier, ABC has decided not to order more episodes of the freshman series. And while the network has not officially cancelled the show, its low ratings suggest a season two is unlikely. Nevertheless, Dungey says the season one finale will be open-ended.
From TVGuide:
In an interview with TVGuide.com, Conviction‘s Merrin Dungey, who plays Conviction Integrity Unit investigator Maxine Bohen, confirmed that there are no plans to do more than the initial 13 episodes, but the finale will be open-ended.
Dungey says that while ABC likes the show, the network’s programming slate is just very crowded right now. Fans shouldn’t worry about not seeing all the Conviction possible. “We were ordered for 13 and we’re going to do the full 13,” she says.”
What do you think? Are you watching Conviction? Do you want a second season?
This show has gotten better every week, it did start slow as many shows do but it has now found its stride and should be given another season to prove its self.
i love it sooo much! i just think it needs a little more advertisement or maybe transfer it into a netflix show because those are the new thing now. :))
I really like this show! It’s one of the best new shows! Please save it!
Conviction is one of my favorite shows, please have another season!!!!
Edit my prior comment …. It’s the Hayley Atwell character that’s so annoying. The other main cast members are all interesting and real.
Cancel it. Interesting concept but the Maxine Bohen character is beyond annoying and over-acted. Women can be intelligent and strong without being ridiculous. Her team does all the work while she struts around acting like a spoiled brat and talking down to her team and then, last minute, somehow comes up with the “aha” of the case? No.
I loved this new, fresh series. Please give it a chance!
Please do not cancel this show. I love watching. It’s thought provoking, relevant, and a refreshing debate on “Justice” and “Equality” in our society. All of that plus the dry humor, sexual tension, and behind the scenes glimpse at Privilege, makes this show one I look forward to every week.
Love this show! Please keep it on TV!
Love this show! Please don’t take it off the air!
Love it!! Don’t cancel !!!
Yes I love the show but I think all the election has maybe took a lot of tv time I feel like the show has great characters
Not putting an ending on it? why? Wrap it up so Netflix will take it.
I like the show, but am losing interest because it never seems to be on.
what Sue said. Could not relate to any of the actors. Very boring. Stop watching now.
Slow, Boring, Acting poorly done. Cancelled.
