France’s TF1 and Sony Pictures Television Networks have renewed Crossing Lines for a second season.
There will be 12 episodes this time around (vs 10 episodes in season one) and production will begin on September 22nd. Locations will include France, the Czech Republic, Monte Carlo and Bulgaria.
Regulars William Fichtner, Donald Sutherland, Marc Lavoine, Tom Wlaschiha, Gabriella Pession and Richard Flood will all return, along with Lara Rossi, who was introduced late in the first season. Guest stars will include Carrie-Anne Moss and Ray Stevenson.
Crossing Lines has been very popular internationally, airing in over 180 territories. It hasn’t been a big hit here in the states however.
NBC aired the series on Sunday nights this summer to poor ratings. The season finale registered just a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.06 million viewers — series lows.
The peacock network says that they haven’t made a decision on the future of the show on NBC. Unfortunately, based on the ratings, there’d be little incentive to license season two of Crossing Lines.
If they don’t pick it up, the show could find a US home on a cable channel, possibly one that’s owned by NBC-Universal like USA Network. Merlin underperformed on NBC in its first year so it was moved to Syfy for the later four seasons.
What do you think? Should NBC pick up season two of Crossing Lines or cancel the low-rated series instead? Would you watch it on a cable channel like USA?
Most definitely renew this wonderful well written, well acted—by superb actors, great directors & coupled with such an original plot line what’s not to love?! I agree with many others the so called “major networks” don’t give new shows a chance to find their audience before they want to chop them. Also agree with posters who say these long long long waits for the next seasons often times kills the shows. Plus, it was not well advertised as so many others have pointed out. And it seems the general consensus, here anyway (& oh how I wish it were true… Read more »
I love this show and actors are awesome. I feel either way NBC or USA I would love to watch it. Keep this series going!
Love Crossing Lines. Yes, I would watch it on USA or another cable channel.
NBC should keep the show.I think the, the used to be major networks need new programmers or whatever they call the people who put the shows on the air.and remember NBC is the network who let Leno go.so much for smarts there.
Loved season 1. Just watched season 1 on netflix. Would love to continue watching season 2.
I am so impressed with this series. NBC must give it time to catch on and advertize it. I found season 1 on Netflix and never knew it was on NBC. Maybe that’s why the ratings are so low, no one knows about it.
I did the same ,I found it on Netflix, so much for advertising on NBC and in August, who watches TV in the summer anyway?
My husband and I love this show. We can’t wait for it’s return. I would watch this show on USA like so many other shows. USA and TNT. Networks seem to want to air those stupid reality shows. Who cares who get married or not???? Keep the good shows and can reality.
they absolutely should renew or place on cable network- but its not surprising that any show that takes a little bit of thought on the viewers part would be cancelled.!!
Love the first season, please bring it back. Great plot and cast.
I hope NBC will keep airing Crossing Lines. I am sooo sick of these reality shows. I watched season one on Net flex (all 10 episodes) and can’t wait to see the next 12 episodes. Too many times the major networks cut show too early.
Great show. Should renew it.
Viewing repeats of crossing lines on Canadian channel – interesting show great cast, mystery intelligent (the death word for shows on the networks) another poor decision. Also, why is there such a long gap between shows, how do you keep an audiences interest, the networks just aren’t getting it,
I know I’m slow on the uptake, but I just finished watching season 1 of Crossing Lines on Netflix and I am wishing for a season 2. Like the cast, favoring William Fichtner, and locales for the series. I guess I am a minority since most of the shows I like get cancelled. Emphatic YES to a season 2.
Great to know another William Fichtner fan!!! Watched Season 1 when it aired on television and recently purchased it. I, too, am waiting for Season 2; to watch and then purchased when available.
Bring the show back on.
Loved season 1 really hope they renew it for season 2!!!
