France’s TF1 and Sony Pictures Television Networks have renewed Crossing Lines for a second season.
There will be 12 episodes this time around (vs 10 episodes in season one) and production will begin on September 22nd. Locations will include France, the Czech Republic, Monte Carlo and Bulgaria.
Regulars William Fichtner, Donald Sutherland, Marc Lavoine, Tom Wlaschiha, Gabriella Pession and Richard Flood will all return, along with Lara Rossi, who was introduced late in the first season. Guest stars will include Carrie-Anne Moss and Ray Stevenson.
Crossing Lines has been very popular internationally, airing in over 180 territories. It hasn’t been a big hit here in the states however.
NBC aired the series on Sunday nights this summer to poor ratings. The season finale registered just a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.06 million viewers — series lows.
The peacock network says that they haven’t made a decision on the future of the show on NBC. Unfortunately, based on the ratings, there’d be little incentive to license season two of Crossing Lines.
If they don’t pick it up, the show could find a US home on a cable channel, possibly one that’s owned by NBC-Universal like USA Network. Merlin underperformed on NBC in its first year so it was moved to Syfy for the later four seasons.
What do you think? Should NBC pick up season two of Crossing Lines or cancel the low-rated series instead? Would you watch it on a cable channel like USA?
One of the BEST series and will be a fan no matter what channel picks it up. Agree with Bill, intelligent/complex sadly over the heads of the typical American viewer. It’s perfect just the way it is.
My husband and I are enjoying this on Netflix. We would watch a second season on cable or a broadcast network. I never heard of it before we found it on Netflix. Maybe it got such poor ratings in the US because NBC did a terrible job of promoting it and put it in such a bad time slot.
Really liked it. Excellent story line, excellent cast. This is from older lady without Facebook, etc.
Watching S1 on netflix. Great w/e bing series. Plz bring it back. Network or cable.
Crossing Lines is an amazing series. My husband and I watched season 1 on Netflix and would love to see another season.
Love this show. I think it would be popular if more people knew about it. I found it by accident on Netflix… got hooked on it.
Exactly!
Summer is a time when most people do outdoor things, that is why the ratings were low. I loved this show and would watch it on anywhere . Please bring it back
Great show. Pick up Season 2 , NBC!
Have been watching on Netflix. Excellent show! We need the second season!
Great show! Please bring it back!
Crossing Lines rules. Need it back!
Can’t wait for season 2 of this show! Several important plot points left hanging in the finale. Love the show stories, locales, character development and interaction. The writing, cast, and international setting make this show very exciting and unique. I’ll say it again: CAN’T WAIT!!
I would watch it on a cable channel or any where. I loved it and want more. Keep me posted on it’s return status. thanks, k
It is a great show. Have been looking got more/
What a fabulous series. Unfortunately, thoughtful, intelligent and complex shows are not attractive to the general American viewer. However, there are many, myself included, who would loved to watch this show on a cable channel or Netflix. This show definitely has a future if given a chance.
