We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

I would hate to see either CSI Miami or CSI New York cancelled. I cannot imagine them not being on – wow – but I agree that CSI New York has the better of the stories
I guess only time will tell.
I would like to see CSI NY stay and CSI Miami get cancelled. Sorry folks but I can’t stand David Caruso! Hated him on NYPD Blue and dislike him on this show. So I vote to have CSI Miami voted off!! Lol
I think it is a good show. I will miss it.!
One more season. YES!!!
Csi ny is mt favorite mzybe there should be a spinoff of some kind
I think it is a good show. I will miss it.!
Since Peterson left CSI, the only CSI that has any heart is New York. I hate to see it go.
NY is my favorite too. Would hate to see it end.
Also,CSI should be taken off first, because it’s getting stale. Only so much can happen that’s diversified in a small city like Las Vegas.
I can’t believe they want to cancel this show. This is a great show. There are others that really are horrible. They are the ones that should go. Keep this one. Change the time slot Fridays are a bad night .
Renew, the best of the CSIs. the addition of Sela Ward is great.
I absolutely love CSI New York and it would be a mistake to cancel it. If a CSI series has to go it should be CSI Miami,I have never liked that one and I know of plenty of people that feel the same way. I can’t believe that Miami is getting better ratings thanNew York.
C.S.I. New York, Rocks! And should be back for another many more seasons.
Dump the Miami C.S.I., those actors need more lessons!
Please, renew this one for the next few seasons, at least. Since Vegas has 12 seasons, why not New York? I rather enjoyed the Friday nights, as there were no university classes. We are booked with no time to view shows until Fridays. Thank God for Verizon On Demand, or we wouldn’t be able to see Vegas on Wednesdays…Too bad they don’t put CSI Miami on Friday nights along with New York and Blue Bloods. Thats a good slot for me. All these other junky shows and sitcoms are crappy, EXCEPT The Good Wife. That show is awesome. Might be… Read more »
Csi ny needs to stay, it is definately the best out of the three
We think it should be renewed and left alone . The network should quit trying to fix something that AIN’T BROKE!!!!!
