We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

This is one of the best shows on TV. Gary Sinese and the rest of the cast is fantastic. Please don’t cancel this show. I am glad it will be back March 30th. CSI NY and BLUE BLOODS are the two best shows on TV, of course so is CSI Miami.
We love all the CSI shows, but CSI NY is our favorite. We don’t want it cancelled.
CBS will have signed its own death warrant if they cancel any of the CSI’s this year.
I agree with the above comments and so does my brother who often watches with me. CSI NY is the best of the three and we like all of the characters on this show. It is a lot classier than the other two shows and it has some very interesting story lines. We didn’t like the original CSI (Las Vegas) while they had Fishburn, but now that they brought Ted Danson on it is better. CSI Miami is our least favorite of all. It is nothing but a bunch of T& A shots, and it is quite gory compared to… Read more »
I love this show,please don’t cancel
CSI:NY is the best of the three. It’s also the most patriotic. And has the most family values.
The fact that two of the three Law & Orders are gone, just goes to show that the American audiences are sick and tired of being told that their veterans are crazy killers, their clergymen are ALL pedophiles, and all Conservatives are homosexuals, wife beaters or murderers.
I’d rather you canceled CSI-MIAMI.
I love all the CSI’s….never miss one & I’d rather watch their reruns then half the reality junk on now. Hope they are all renewed.
CSI NY has always been my favorite esp over CSI Miami which is always extremely violent, too visually violents to watch. To lose Gary Sinese, will make me very sad. He will still tour as Lt Dan. Your dumping his 1st co-star was a horrible mistake. I like CSI Las Vegas even with cast changes. I am not the typical TV watcher I have had along research career in medical school research. I had to drop out of a MS when my 15 yr old step son moved in with us and my 15 yr old daughter was a week… Read more »
I love all 3 CSI shows and even watch the re-runs on the cable channel as well. I really hate when the networks only worry about the 18-49 group. It tells me that I no longer matter to them. That my money isn’t good enough for them. Everytime I enjoy a program it gets cancelled. Why….because the people in the 18-49 demagraphic don’t like it. And they are probably too busy on their iphones to be interested in anything else. Come on networks think about somebody else for a change and stopping worrying about your bank accounts.
Ax great actor like Senise and keep the poser Caruso? Yeah, that’s smart.
I have been an avid viewer ao CSI NY . I even record everyone of them to rewatch them over. I feel that they deal with more everyday lives, than the other CSI’s do. There is very little stereo typing on CSI NY than on either of the other 2 CSI’s. Csi Miami is my next favorite. I personally feel that the original CSI at sometimes a little hard to believe. Pleas keep CSI NY on for a very long time. Sincerely Deborah Bloxham
My Husband and I watch all 3 CSI shows and we both think that CSI Miami is the one to drop, not NY. When Grissom left, that was the beginning of the end of Las Vegas.
I’ve Been A Fan Of The CSI Franchise Since The Beginning. To Hear That Its A Possibility That CSI: New York Might Be Cancelled After This Season Is A Shame. I Hope That Its Not The Case Because There Isn’t Many Shows That I Really Enjoy Watching Since They Took Off A Lot Of Shows That Were ACTUALLY GOOD. Now If They EVER Decide To Take Off CSI: Miami, I’ll Stop Watching CBS Altogether
if you want to get rid of the csi get ride of the regular one on Thursday it has been through more people that carter has liver pills and it is getting boring bad i love csi new york and csi Miami 2 of the best .
