We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

CSI NY should be renewed for 2012-2013 season. One of the better shows on TV!!! Stars perform well, good storyline….keeps you watching. Better thn stupid reality shows!!!
Here we go again. I seem to have an uncanny instinct for liking series that get cancelled. Over and over and over it happens, leaving shows that don’t interest me. CSI: NY is the only one of the three that interests me and that I watch, and unlike some commenters I prefer the Friday night timeslot. I guess the time I spend watching films instead of TV is about to shift again, in favor of movies.
i love csi ny. if u want to cancel a csi show dump csi miami and that pompas ass.
i agree. I love csi new york and i love the cast. Dump csi miami.
Don’t cancel CSI NY! I love this show and it’s about the only thing on Friday I watch.
If they’re going to cancel one, they should cancel the original. They’ve been trying to kill it for quite awhile now. And Ted Danson was the last nail in it’s coffin in my opinion. He’s a good actor, but not for this type of series.
Please renew CSI: New York, as it is the best of the 3 CSI shows. Would be great if it were to be moved back to Wednesday night. If you were to discontinue any show, please delete the reality shows.
Our family loves all 3 CSI shows!! I agree though not more reality shows!
My fave is CSI the original! Especially like Ted Danson in the lead role.
Miss Marg Helgenberger.
It is just to bad that you cancel a show with such great stars. I thoroughly respect Gary Sinise with the work he has done with veterans and I respect his work on the show. You need to cancel the ridiculous reality shows and stupid sit com shows that need filthy subjects to perform. I like all the csi shows, but I repect Gary Sinise the most of all.
I am sorry tosee csi new york go. I liked the
fri. time slot.I do not watch reality shows. Don’t like them at all.
CSI: NY has always been my favorite of the CSI shows. Gary Sinise is not to be beaten.
I STILL LIKE THE CSI SHOWS. THE ORIGINAL IS OK W/DANSON. BUT I MUCH PREFER CSI NY OVER CSI MIAMI.
Csi new york is the best of the csi shows. It should not be cancelled. I buy all of the dvd sets and watch it every chance i get. I love the characters and the episodes. please do not cancel this show.
We need more quality shows like the CSI series of shows! Keep them going! Don’t change their nights! And last but not least stop stop stop the reality shows!
NO, a thousand times NO, do not cancel it. Let the fans speak for these networks for once and stop cancelling shows that are good and entertaining. Stop putting on all these so-called real life shows, when we know they’re scripted just like any other program. CSI, all 3 of them, are the best on CBS along with Blue Bloods, Unforgettable and Hawaii Five-O.
Even with Stella gone, it’s the best CSI — I hope it continues! The only reason I haven’t been able to watch the whole season this year is because it’s in the same time slot as Fringe, Supernatural, and Grimm. I hope to catch it on DVD, hopefully not as “the final season!”
